NOTE: nous venons de finir de redécorer ce chalet: nouveau plancher de bois franc, nouveau tapis, mobilier mis à jour. Des photos à suivre, mais c'est joli.

Hmmm, je pense que nous avons besoin d'un peu de temps libre. Que diriez-vous de chercher un petit chalet dans les bois oĂč nous pourrions passer du temps ensemble. Aucune tĂąche. Aucune liste de tĂąches. Pas de corvĂ©es. Juste un endroit oĂč nous pouvons nous dĂ©tendre ensemble. Peut-ĂȘtre un endroit prĂšs d'un Ă©tang ou des sentiers de randonnĂ©e, ou peut-ĂȘtre un endroit oĂč nous pouvons sortir dans un champ et courir et jouer Ă  des jeux. Oh, et pourriez-vous voir s'il y avait un endroit oĂč nous pourrions griller et peut-ĂȘtre rĂŽtir des guimauves et nous asseoir et ĂȘtre juste. Ce serait vraiment bien si c'Ă©tait aussi abordable. Peut-ĂȘtre que nous pourrions alors nous permettre de passer trois nuits et vraiment rentrer Ă  la maison revigorĂ©. Pourriez-vous voir si vous pouviez trouver un tel endroit?

We enjoyed our stay at Black Bear cabin very much. It was very clean and well appointed. The hosts were very kind and personable and answered all of our questions and took care of all our needs in a timely manner. We enjoyed fishing in the pond and actually caught 4 fish! Our only complaint is that it was farther out of town than we realized it would be. Nevertheless, we enjoyed the drive in and out of the site. It is a beautiful rustic area and provided a great few days in the mountains without the crowds and traffic of larger places. Altogether enjoyable!

Anniversary Weekend

We were looking for a quiet place to go and getaway. We found it! Black Bear was in a very quiet location, very clean, had everything we needed and a very comfortable bed! We ate at the Elevation Bistro and had a delicious dinner!

22nd Anniversary Getaway

My husband and I stayed in Black Bear cottage/cabin as a romantic getaway to celebrate our 22nd wedding anniversary. From the moment we sent a message with a question about the listing Ray & Bobbie were so accommodating. We asked for a little bit of an earlier check-in and it wasn't a problem. The drive getting to the cabin was very scenic and trust me when I say " you are in the middle of nowhere" haha! We use Verizon cell service and had SOS most of the time but there was rare moments when we got 1 bar. Which was enough to call and check on the kids back home. That's honestly the only downside to the stay/location is not having WiFi. My youngest is used to facetiming me whenever we aren't together and we couldn't this weekend. But when we go to Fort Payne we got service. This isn't deterring us from coming back though. The peace that just hugs you the moment you arrive and throughout our stay was indescribable. Samson and Lyza(the dogs) were so friendly and came for visits and treats were the sweetest dogs and they are just as happy to be there as any guest! The cottage/cabin was the cutest thing. Ray & Bobbie put such a person welcoming touch throughout. It was evident they wanted you to not only be comfortable during your stay but they wanted you to have an experience. They prepared the firepit for us. Had outdoor sitting everywhere. Super comfortable outdoor furniture on your private screened in porch. Amazing furniture inside. The bed is chefs kiss!!

Weekend get away.

Loved the cabin. It was so peaceful. We loved the dogs visiting with us in the mornings and at night around the pond. Thanks for working with us on our arrival time.

Wonderful Retreat

This is our second time to stay at this wonderful, relaxing cabin. The outside to the inside screams relaxation. This time we were able to meet the host, they were wonderful. We will be back.

Quiet rest

It was our third time staying in The Wilderness. We like the remote area with pond in front. The look and feel of it is peaceful. It is a great getaway for a quiet rest.

10 year anniversary trip

This place was absolutely perfect for our weekend getaway the cabin was just as pictured but just better in person super cozy it rained the whole time we were here so we didn’t get to walk the trails like we wanted to but I definitely will be back and try another cabin on the property the property manager is very nice and easy to communicate with

Fantastic getaway

My partner and I had such a wonderful time celebrating his birthday here. It’s close to local restaurants and hiking trails, and the cottage itself is so cute. Very comfortable bed to rest in after running around all day. It’s a great place to relax, unplug, and get away for a while. Bobbie and Ray were so hospitable, we couldn’t have asked for better hosts! We didn’t want to leave, and we hope to be back soon!

Winter at The Wilderness

The cabin was perfect! Even if the temps outside were in the 20's it was cozy and clean and quiet. Will definitely be back in warmer weather.

Rustic tranquility!

The cabin was perfect for 2 people! Located off the beaten path was a plus for us as we were looking for a place to enjoy the quiet of the country. The bed was more comfortable than any bed we have ever slept on in a hotel. The kitchen was accomodating for what we needed. We used the grill out by the pond the night we cooked dinner and enjoyed the swing while our dinner cooked. The cabin was decorated with cute antique furniture upstairs and the loveseat/chaise in the living room was perfect for us to snuggle up on while watching tv. The owner had "hotel" size toiletries incase something was forgotten. We even had a couple visits from the dogs during our stay! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Relaxing Weekend Getaway

Me and my wife stayed the weekend to celebrate our anniversary. It was great to sit and relax on the porch, fish in the pond, and see the falls just a few minutes away. Glad we had cool neighbors, no issues sharing the fire pit area and fishing in the pond. It was worth the price in our opinion and would give it our recommendation.
