The spacious kitchen and open-plan living area with a wood burning stove provides a warm welcome to cyclists and walkers on even the wettest of days. Indeed, there is a covered utility area with a separate washing machine and tumble dryer, ideal for drying off and storing muddy boots and coats upon returning from the abundant outdoor pursuits. The Buttress has a fabulous bedroom with a super-king size bed and a balcony with seating for two, where you can take in the panoramic, far reaching views or star gaze on a clear summer's night.

Alston claims to be the highest market settlement in England, sitting 1,000 feet above sea level. The market town itself offers an abundance of shops and eateries for visitors to enjoy. The Cane Workshop at Stokoe House in the town centre is an award winning marmalade, preserves and chutney producer. For those looking to sample some of the local culinary delights, the owners highly recommend breakfast or lunch at Saddlers at the top of the town. Food by Angela offers a local home cooked, ready meal service and they are happy to deliver to The Old Buttress for your convenience.

Outside, the enclosed garden enjoys views of the rolling green hills and working farmland. Guests can sit back and relax, enjoying the sound of the distant trickle of the stream that flows through the garden area.
