Informazioni su questa struttura

Wild Atlantic Way Connemara luxury safari-tent glamping with outdoor hot bath.

If you would like to camp but want a proper bed and an outdoor wood-fired bath, then An Cuach at Connemara Glamping is for you. Suitable for couples, friends and families with children 8 and over. We offer glamping for softies under canvas in spacious safari tents (11m x 5.4m) but with all the comforts of home and room to all spread out. Our four tents each have 3 bedrooms and sleep up to 6 adults in comfort (our bunk beds are 4ft wide). All tents have en-suite bathrooms and 3 bedrooms with hotel quality beds, linens, towels and electric blankets. Each tent has its own living/dining room and kitchen area with 2 ring induction hob, and fridge freezer. Sit back and relax on your verandah with a glass of something chilled and enjoy the distant sea views. There are USB points in each tent to charge your devices.

An Cuach has a private, outdoor, wood-fired Boheme bath suitable for two adults on its own deck to the side of the tent. Soak in the tub on a clear night under a star filled canopy

We are in the perfect location in the heart of Irish culture. Irish is the first language here in South Connemara. We have lots of outdoor space, and a communal fire pit for star gazing nights. We are a short walk to a safe, sandy beach - take our portable BBQ and cook dinner to the sound of lapping waves. We have great walks and on-road cycling. There are off road cycling trails, fishing and golf courses within a short drive. We are less than 5 minutes drive to the ferries or plane to the Aran Islands (a 7 minute flight). Our local cafe, Pota, is Ireland's top cafe for 2022 and made the Irish Independent's Top100 Restaurants in Ireland.
Come and explore - there's too much to do to list here but it's less stressful to stay in one place and have days out. We are in the perfect location for day trips into Connemara, or the Burren and the Cliffs of Moher. Kylemore Abbey, Patrick Pearse's cottage, Connemara National Park, Clifden and the Sky Road, Killary Fijord, Cong, and Ashford Castle can be combined to make several days out. If you fancy a beach then a trip to Roundstone and Dog's Bay is in order. In the other direction Galway with its restaurants, festivals, bars and live music is a 35-40 minute drive. You can organise an electric bike tour for your group from the site with Fat Bike for a slower experience.
There's something for everyone - from romantic breaks way, to groups of adult friends and families. We're always happy to give you some ideas for an itinerary or try and help you source whatever you need.

Our favorite place
Our adult children joined us in a tour of Ireland and this site is the best place we stayed! Very comfortable and roomy with very helpful hosts, knowledgeable about the area and full of good tips about the best way to see local attractions. They were very responsive to anything we needed- highly recommended!!

sehr besonderer ort!

A great stay !
Michael was really nice and discreet, attentive to our well-being. We had a warm welcome and a delicious lemon cake ! Thank you so much ! The tent is very large as well as the beds which are very comfortable. There is a "real" bathroom, the shower is top. We didn't get tired of the view from the tent which is wonderful at sunrise ! The Wonderful Connemara's landscapes are not far, like Galway which is only 32 kms. We also could fish, just a 10 minutes walk from the tent... Our children loved playing with Riley who is so cute and kind. Thank you Michael and Janet, we spent a wonderful stay !

Tough as nails!
... almost without needing any. We had a few windy storms come through while we were there, but felt very safe and sheltered. Lovely space, great beds, excellent coffee ... thank you!

Michael and Janet are welcoming hosts who enjoy meeting people from around the world. Together with their dog Riley they assure you of a warm welcome.

Perché ha scelto questa struttura

Michael's family have always farmed this land and the main farmhouse has been lived in for the past four generations. Michael inherited the farm and lands in 1997 from his mother's brother, Uncle Joe, a much loved local character who was a bachelor. Michael spent every summer here along with his family from being a small child as much help was needed to bring in the turf, make the hay, water the tomatoes from the local lake the welcome was dry. This is subsistence farming, the land is very poor and will support a few sheep or cattle. Local farming method are still used here - turf is cut, dried and brought home, hay is scythed, lazy potato beds are dug and cattle are moved between fields constantly to allow the land to rest. In August the talk is constantly of whether the mackerel are in the Bay or not.

Cosa rende unica questa struttura

Our location - you can have the perfect combination of relaxing evenings and days combined with day trips out to visit everything you would want to see. No more rushing around packing and unpacking. There is something for everyone here - whether you want local culture and music or the wild outdoors. This is the heart of Irish culture. You will hear Irish spoken as it is the daily language. South Connemara has a unique landscape between sea and mountains - life on the edge where the land is poor but the sea could be relied on for food. It is a mix of farming and fishing. Fields are small with stone walls surrounding them. It is a short walk down to the local pier Baile na hAbhann (no 98 on the Wild Atlantic Way map). On a clear day you can see across to the Cliffs of Moher (a day trip away) or to the Aran Islands which are closer. This is the best place to stop and stay awhile and to use as a base for touring. There are many trips - by local ferry or plane to the Aran Islands - 7 minutes flight; Galway with its nightlife and fantastic restaurants is 35-40 minutes easy drive - have an adventure and catch the 424 bus and maybe meet some locals on the way. There are many day trips into Connemara - you could visit Kylemore, Patrick Pearce's Cottage, Dan O'Hara's homestead, Alcock and Brown/Marconi site, Clifden and the Sky Road, Kilary Fijord and the Misunderstood Heron one of the top 10 foods trucks in the world, walk a bird of prey at Ashford castle, or for the more adventurous go coasteering or organise an electric bike trip from the site and explore at a more leisurely pace. Our local golf course Connemara Isles is one of the most beautiful in the world, very relaxed and a must. Bring your own bikes - we have lots of beautiful routes for you to take.
