Not as hoped
Shame on me for not doing more research. This property was kind of out of the way for the things we came to Colorado Springs to enjoy, but that’s my fault for not knowing. This property is not very well maintained. The exterior looks pretty unappealing - it really needs to be painted. It looks very old and dated. When we arrived I felt unsafe for my family, especially teen daughter, as there was a group of men hanging out drinking and smoking on the stair case across from our unit. They weren’t doing anything wrong but I just had a bad feeling in my gut. I went back to the lobby and expressed my concerns. The gal at the desk was as accommodating as she could be, but the only units available were either right next to the group of men, or the unit saved for emergencies. I opted for the emergency unit. However I was not told it didn’t have working AC and instead had a window unit. That was fine for downstairs but it meant the upstairs was very warm. It was hard for us, the parents, to sleep. The next day the maintenance man installed a second window unit downstairs, which didn’t do much to help the upstairs situation. It was hot during the day, mid-90’s, so upstairs got rather uncomfortable each day. We just had to deal with it. The carpet was in poor condition- lots of stains, the dishwasher was not bolted in, and the cabinets in the kitchen and upstairs bath needed some help. When checking out I was given credit for the nightly parking fee since our stay was not great.
