We arrived to Castagneto Carducci on a hot July day and Maureen had arranged that Mario, the housekeeper, was waiting for us so he could show us the way to the property.. After driving a long path in a wooded area we reached Trogollelo (the cute name of the house). My whole family was stunned at the sheer beauty! It was in a gorgeous place near the mountains, and we immediately fell in love with it. The house, to begin with, is huge (fits eight or more people) so we were eager to explore the inside. The patio right outside the house was were we ate most of our meals, since the weather was so nice in the day time and nighttime, and it had an unbeatable view. Inside, the house is all stone and windows on the first floor, so there is no air conditioning needed. The living room has comfortable couches and a television, and the kitchen was fantastic! A word to the kitchen: it has all the appliances and tools necessary for cooking and serving food. Those who love to cook will find this kitchen a luxury, since it has every possible utensil for cooking nearly everything in regards to Italian cuisine. Moving up to the second floor, there are four bedrooms, two with two single beds, and two with one matrimonial bed. All bedrooms have windows with a lovely view. There is one bathroom on the first floor (which has a washing machine and dryer in it, too), as well as one on the second floor, both equipped with showers. We found on both floors of the house there was ample space to move around, especially since there were 5 of us, and we never felt cramped or crowded. Aside from this, the decor was lovely and had a very warm Tuscan feel to it. It truly feels like you are living the Tuscan dream life in this house! Moving outside, there was quite a flight of stairs to get to the pool. The pool was located up very high, with many steps that were sometimes a bit tiring for the elder guests. On top of this, if you have very little kids the pool is so far away and not within view of the actual house that you will have to be up there as well to keep an eye on them. Once you arrive at the large size pool, however, the view is definitely worth it! It's located right on the mountains, and to the right there is a large forest, and looking straight ahead there is a slight view of the Ligurean sea. There are plenty of lounge chairs here, as well as a table under a small cabana for snacks and drinks.. Maureen and Mario made all possible efforts to guarantee a great stay
