Three couples in their 60s (old friends) stayed here and had a fantastic time. The house is at the end of the road, completely secluded, with a soaring views over the Pacific, just a 2 minute walk down the driveway. The house itself is unusually lovely: it is tastefully furnished in beautiful local woods, with a wide covered patio looking out over the magnificent view. An unusual feature is the seamless indoor/outdoor structure, as there are no screens or sliders between the house and the patio, producing a gloriously open feel. (No bugs, how incredible is that?!). Just a km down the beach is a charming and delicious local restaurant with great fish dishes, and just beyond that you can buy your own fish right off the boat from the fishermen at 7:30 am and cook it yourself. The beach is great for swimming and body surfing (though watch for rip currents), and you can walk for miles on the beach, passing only the occasional person and their dog or horse. It is a long bumpy drive from San Jose (5-6 hours in a 4x4), so consider flying in to Liberia. But the reward for the long drive is peace, nature, and tranquility (which is hardly disturbed by the continuous sound of crashing waves).
