I spent 3 months here.It is roomy and well situated.I would suggest you need a car.Madeira is very hilly, getting to the bus is reserved for those in shape.Hills are not limited to the neighborhood but on the entire island. To give you an idea, the whole island is mountainous with no less than 153 highway tunnels, some 2km.If you pickup a car after dark, would suggest you leave it on Rua do Serrado,at the property entrance in the large circle area just below. The parking spot is in the middle of the hill on the property at a sharp
right turn with low level wall. Very very difficult to see when it's pitch black. €549 later,I can give you some adviceThe phrase "a gentleman and a scholar" was coined for the owner,Toger Amby, who really fits the bill. It was a pleasure to stay on his property. The cleaning lady, Paula,is very efficient, friendly and comes every week. The kitchen fridge is a good size with a large enough freezer, both work very well. The dishwasher is also excellent. The hot water is provided by an Instant-on gas burner located behind the house in the add-on covered alley, where the automatic washer is located. The view of Funchal harbour from the front steps is magnificent. The weather here is generally fair and stableThe expressways and major highways are excellentTo sum it up,This selection is very welcoming with large rooms. It is good value for the money. Rest assured that Toger will be on hand to ascertain that your visit is a pleasant and memorable one.ThankYou Toger
