Total experience, from start to finish, was incredible. Hosts responsive, home very comfortable and clean. Location doesn't get much better, with short walk to beach and minutes away driving to more, plus bonus park with lovely shade for pucnic lunches. Thank you Beth and Bill!

Our family had a wonderful stay at this beach cottage. The house was perfect, offering plenty of space for both kids and adults. We loved being able to walk to the beach every day and enjoyed exploring the local restaurants. The outdoor shower was a perfect way to rinse off and relax after a long day in the sun. The large kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals at home.

Great Location!

Quick trip

Space was very clean with everything you might need. Nice quality furniture and good water pressure. The road coming in can be tougher in a small car, but if you follow the instructions you should be good! Short walk to the beach and a few good places for food. About a mile from the zoo. The owners were polite and prompt with any questions that I had.

Great little cabin

Don't worry about the A/C: it was very hot and humid when we arrived but the mini split cooled everything down quickly. We only used one bedroom, so can't comment on the comfort of the others. Location is terrific. Owners were very responsive, communicative and helpful

Great location, great house, super neighbors

We thought the house was adorable on-line and loved it even more on arrival. It’s a wonderful, open and light space, nicely decorated, and an easy walk to the beach. The house is very close to neighboring houses, but somehow still feels private and the neighbors were very nice and helpful. Great overall location and week for our family.

Great Rental!

We have been vacationing in Southern Maine for many many years, we have rented a few homes in the area over the years and this rental was better than most. The location is wonderful, they state 5 minute walk to beach, but it doesn't feel more than 1 or 2 minutes, perfect location on Long Sands, close to the bathroom and multiple eating and shopping locations. The size and look of the house matched the online description and pictures so we were very happy to get what we paid for. There is plenty of room, no one felt on top of each other after a day at the beach. The outdoor shower is a great touch to rinse the sand after a beach day and we were very pleased there was a wagon at the property to cart all our stuff on the walk to the beach. Communication with the owners was great, they were available to us if needed and they were so sweet to send information on York/York area dining and activities prior to our trip. We will definitely be looking to rent this property again!

Cottage was very efficient. Nicely decorated. Very homey. Great neighbors! Easy access to Long Sands. Outdoor shower was a bonus! We made the parking work. Quiet street!!

Fun in the sun and surf!

The property location was great! The owners are very responsive. The outdoor shower was great especially after a day at the beach. The no towels or bed sheets thing was a bummer but okay if it reduces the rent price:) The biggest challenge was that all of the curtains in the bedrooms were white. This didn't keep out any light like early morning sun or neighbor's who keep their lights on all night. There is a skylight right over the bunk bed so my young one woke up with the roosters.

Just what we needed

The house was perfectly comfortable for our family of four — charming set-up, extremely well-maintained, and great location. We were able to enjoy time with extended family as well as explore southern Maine. We had easy access to the beach in York, and traveled to Ogunquit, Wells, Portland, and Portsmouth NH.

Great Location and Hosts!

Bill and Beth were overly communicative and helpful in the booking process and beyond. Location was great and quiet, perfect for our families to take a break and relax from days at the beach. Loved the outdoor shower feature and line of sight in the cottage to be preparing dinner and seeing the kids play in the living room.

Clean and Comfortable

This was our second year staying at Bill and Beth’s cottage and just like last year it was perfect! Super clean, super comfortable and walking distance to the beach and corner store. My family and I had the best time and we are so grateful to have found such a nice place to stay so close to long sands. Thanks for the great memories Bill and Beth!

Amazing house

I have been going to York my whole life and this was by far the best place we have stayed! My kids (7 and 10 years old) also agree. 920 square feet doesn't sound big, but when you enter the house feels so much larger with the high living room ceilings and loft space. The bunkroom was huge and made my kids happy, and the other 2 bedrooms were also good sizes with closets and dressers. The bathroom was perfect size, great big kitchen with everything you could need (although I didn't cook), and the fact that the house has AC is amazing! My kids were worried about the walk as we have stayed closer previously, but they quickly got over it due to how nice the house was. There was a wagon to transport our stuff to the beach which was great. The road is rocky, but no more so than many of the beach back roads. It feels so secluded even though so close to the beach. We can't wait to stay again and definitely a 5 out of 5!

Great find- within 10 min walk to beach!

Would highly recommend this cottage to anyone wanting to stay near Long sands! Great layout, comfortable beds, spacious eat in kitchen, and the best part was the outdoor shower! The owners were very responsive and answered any questions right away! Would definitely stay here again!

Great Cottage

There was plenty of room for our family of 5 in this clean cottage. Air conditioning worked perfectly, and everything was just as advertised. Awesome location! The owner was friendly and responsive. Well worth it!

Enjoyable Week!

My husband and I enjoyed a lovely week in this vacation home. Communication with Bill and Beth was quite easy, as responses from them were very prompt. We found the house to be very clean, bright, and comfortable. The bathroom is on the small side, but clean and well-supplied, including disinfectant cleaning wipes. My husband enjoyed the outdoor shower several times upon returning from the beach. We cooked meals every day, and found the spacious kitchen to be very well-equipped, although there is no dishwasher. We were lucky enough to have some beautiful beach weather, and the walk to Long Sands Beach was only 7-8 minutes while pulling the beach wagon. Overall, we were very happy and would not hesitate to rent here again.

June Getaway

We enjoyed several days at York Beach. Blueberry Cottage had easy access to several beaches and shopping. The kitchen was well equipped, and accommodations were comfy.

10 out of 10!!

This cottage was wonderful. Just a 5 minute easy walk to long sands beach right near the public restrooms! Such an important thing if you have small children with you that need to use it often. Bill and Beth were great. They welcomed us on arrival and showed us around and answered any questions we had. Our favorite things about the cottage was how clean and beautiful the inside was, the outdoor shower with hot and cold water, the wagon and beach toys our children could use. They even have beach chair you can barrow if you don’t want to bring your own. I recommend bringing yourself some paper plates, like we did. There is no dishwasher so you would have to hand wash your dishes... I don’t know about you but I’m on vacation and I don’t want to do extra chores ;) This place is a 10 out of 10. Can’t wait to go back!

Family Time

We had seven people staying for three days (all of which were rainy and cold). We enjoyed the family time together and spent time on the beach between periods of rain. It was just my husband and I the last three days. Overall, the cottage was comfortable to be in, beds were comfortable. The owners were very nice and responded quickly to any needs. We will likely stay here again.

Beth's ancestor's have been coming to York beach since the 1890's, originally building the Vermont House on Broadway in Cape Neddick and later owning property near Barn Point north of Short Sands. Growing up in the Boston area, her family made frequent summer visits to Long Sands and the Golden Rod while visiting family at Kittery Point.

Bill grew up near the Pacific Ocean and was introduced by Beth to York before they were married. He had an instant fondness for the coast of Maine and they've been bringing their family every year to Moody Beach, Ogunquit, York Beach and Gerrish Island.

With the kids grown, married and living far away, Bill & Beth got the cottage for summer gatherings, hoping to occasionally lure the grandchildren back to the roots of their heritage. In searching for the "right" place, they were taken with the obvious love and craftsmanship of the home's renovations over the years ...and its closeness to Long Sands beach .

The craft and quality of the cottage's construction is unique and restful. The abundant sunlight, cathedral ceiling, larger bedrooms, bead board paneled walls, and closeness to the beach are immediate draws. The feeling of seclusion on a knoll shared by two other cottages is quite calming ...and these neighbors are great! The recent renovations have brought a tasteful update to the cottage and Bill & Beth are delighted to share their affection for York Beach with their summer guests.
