With an extraordinary location, between the City Hall and Praça da Liberdade, just 2 steps away from São Bento train station and Timeout Porto Market, the Welcome Aliados [WA] is born here to live Porto at its fullest. The rehabilitation of an historic building has preserved its remarkable original façade, high ceilings, balconies facing south, and yet modern and functional.
This inviting apartment is ready to become your new home in our UNESCO World Heritage City!
- A living area with a cozy sofa and cable TV and free wifi
- A kitchenette that comes well-equipped with all the key amenities you could require for the preparation of a delicious home cooked meal like an oven-microwave, a stove and cooking utensils. There's also a toaster, electric kettle, a dishwasher, an espresso coffee machine and a washing machine, great for longer stays!
- A private area with a comfortable queen bed with freshly hotel quality linens.

Everything was great and communication was effortless. The location was central to everything we wanted to do. My only complaint was the noise level in the area throughout the night every night we were there. Nothing the property manager could control so if you’re a light (or even medium) sleeper plan for restless sleep.

This lovely spacious apartment is central for walking and public transportation. There are good restaurants and incredible architecture everywhere. The interior is beautiful and clean and safe. We appreciated the host’s responsiveness and trust. Thank you.

The best communication of any host. Apartment is in the middle of everything you want to see in Porto. Clean and comfortable. Two cautions: 1. There are internal stairs if you have mobility limitations. 2. Because you are on the square the outside noise may be an issue if your a light sleeper. We felt it was our best stay of all the places we went.

Everything was spectacular. Irene was a phenomenal host, and very accommodating when we needed her assistance. The apartment looked exactly like the pictures and having the additional living space was a bonus in comparison to other options. The location was ideal and perfect for navigating the city. It can be a bit loud whenever people are outside celebrating an FC Porto win, but Irene preps the space accordingly. Overall, we would stay here again.

Great place for a weekend!

Irene was extremely kind and helpful! She quickly responded to any questions or concerns we had during our stay! We stayed for 3 weeks. The apartment is compact and clean, with most of the basics provided. Good amount of storage and closet space with plenty of hangers, which helps for drying laundry. We really liked having the additional 1/2 bath. Wifi was fast and reliable. There were many thoughtful items like a well supplied kitchen with a full size refrigerator, hairdryer, drying rack, vacuum, iron and ironing board. Some of the downsides were that only 2 coffee pods were provided for the coffee machine and we were unable to find decaf coffee pods for the machine at any of the nearby grocery stores. We requested no housekeeping because we work odd hours and a safe wasn't provided, so it would have been nice to have more than 2 towels. There is a delicious döner restaurant next door that is open until 4:00 am every night, which is very busy and loud until closing. Ear plugs are provided, but we were told the apartment was quiet. Unfortunately, we also ended up with people in the apartment above that stomped around very heavily at all hours. A TV in the bedroom might help cover the sounds. We played white noise to help us sleep. The bedroom is also very bright in the morning, because there is only a thin white blind with gaps around the sides. Would have loved for the windows to have the beautiful wood shutters seen throughout the city to block the light and some of the noise.

My dear guest Rodney, Thank you for the kind and generous way you started your comment. You were the second couple of guests via VRBO, so your sincere and honest comment was awaited with some expectation! I have no doubt that your review will help future guests. However, I have noted some points that need to be clarified under penalty of being misinterpreted. 1) Coffee - our guest have 2 coffee pods, 2 teas and sugar, among several other basic needs. For a long stay of 14 days the guests need to refill them. The Portuguese brand DELTA has a huge store in the middle of the city near BOLHÃO... there you could find all the varieties ...BUT unfortunately you did not report me your difficulty to find coffee or decaf to buy. 2) There is an aspect that surprised us, it deserves to be corrected and I quote here our conversation by whatsapp, check it please. " -Rodney, We will offer you a weekly clean. I will let you know when. Is that ok for you? - (you) We do not need the weekly cleaning. We will keep the apartment very clean. Thank you. - Morning, At least fresh towels and linens from the laundry every time you need them. Please do not wash them in the apartment. Thanks (...) - (you) We have our own towels. It will not be necessary. Thank you. -OK! Anything that you need just let me know." Rodney, It would be for FREE and you refuse all my offers!! And in fact my guests left the apartment spotless. I gave them 5*** in all aspects including communication. The apartment is quiet, isn't it?! However, the area is very noisy, specially in the days with a lot of movement at night, parties and celebrations, so common in Aliados, ear plugs are indispensable. That's why I included them in the welcome pack. The negative aspects that depend on us will be taken into account. I am grateful for that. I truly hope you have good memories from us and Oporto city !! Best regards, Irene

Faultless process booking apartment with great communication and easy check in/out. Apartment centrally located with access to everything Porto has to offer and includes everything you need for a short stay. Would book again.
