Access only by steep stairs

Many couples our age would find the climb to the apartment very difficult. The apartment was clean and modern with a great location. We would stay again.

Perfect, unique place centered where you want to be

The cozy place on the Escadas (stairs!) embedded in the historic hillside neighborhood with large windows over the Douro is a perfect couples location under the Luis I bridge. The place is a unique gateway to walk around the excellent cultural sights, museums, and gems of restaurants and cafes nearby, and <10 min stroll to the main train station and tour bus hub for a romantic, memorable cruise out of town. Check-in was EZ, with helpful, prompt support as needed.

Property was in a great location! The inside furnishings are “well used” and could use some updating/fixing, like the couch and chair in tv area. We booked this place for patio with table & chairs for view and there was no table. This made for meals outside difficult. The ac unit could also use maintenance, has it had an odor. Communication was great from Feel Porto! They met us where transport dropped off to show us into unit and offered suggestions via WhatsApp when needed.

Very nice new apartment! Just the access is not easy! You have a lot of stairs to get to the apartment! It is not for kids or old people!

Porto stay

The place was lovely, clean and cozy. Easily big enough for my sister and I. There were some sounds from the nearby metro line, but not enough to keep us awake. And there were doors to close over the windows that did a good job to quiet the noises. Pretty view of the river. The pull-out couch is shorter. The steps to the place are challenging and each day you must go up or down many steps to get anywhere. Not a place for people who have difficulties walking many steps each day. Otherwise hosts were very accommodating and a lovely stay!

Mixed Review

The view from the property is beautiful. The unit was very clean and communication with rental company was very good. The company was even able to arrange an airport pickup for us early in the morning. There is a small cafe next door where we had a nice coffee and breakfast in the am. You do need to be aware - this property is NOT easy to get to from where a cab would drop you or where you can park. If coming down the hill it’s steep and about 80 stairs and if coming up from the Ribeira there are 126 stairs. We had two major issues though - the VRBO description said this unit had a washing machine and it did not and street sellers are set up right in front of the property and come up on the unit balcony to hang their wares. The mgmt co. gave us a slight discount for not having a washer as advertised but we lost precious time finding a wash and fold to get our laundry done. The second issue was more troublesome as I had to work one day from the property and the street sellers were coming up on the balcony where I had the doors opened - I felt very unsafe. The property manager tried to address this with the seller but it ended up being a yelling match in front of the property. I felt more unsafe after the altercation. It’s a nice property and the company is good - just some cautions.
