The house was fully equipped, decorated nicely, and very clean and welcoming for us. It worked perfectly for our holiday plans! The waterfront view was amazing! It’s close to shopping and the Solomon’s Island area. Peter is a great host and we’re looking forward to returning!

ALWAYS ALWAYS A Beautiful Getaway. Literally any and everything you could possibly need & ask for, super relaxed vibe, great fishing & crabbing, and homeowners are as pleasant as they come. If you haven’t been to this Lusby get away, book ASAP! Have FUN!!
Ps. Inlet/Creek next to house, keep an eye out for Exotic Birds!

Lusby and beyond

We had a very restful time. Pete did leave a lot of information about things to do. Steps up to the house were difficult for my husband, but the view was great once situated. Property was very well stocked! Great kitchen for those who like a cooking vacation (Not us!). Did not realize the property was so far from all the restaurants and spent a lot of time in the car. (No reflection on Pete.)

A Real Waterfront Retreat! Go!

If you are looking for an authentic waterfront retreat in Southern Maryland, then look no further. From the stunning views of the Patuxent River in the two story great room to the bikes, fishing gear, and baited crab pots, this private retreat has it all. You will be treated to a waterfront lesson on the wildlife and boating history of the Patuxent; complete with beautifully displayed original photography taken by the host. We were welcomed with a personal note, a bottle of wine with a history, and a bowl of chocolates. All rooms are well appointed and if you forgot your toothbrush, no worries, there are new ones in the bathrooms. Enjoy your morning coffee from the deck with egrets, ducks, geese, and seagulls visiting the secluded pond that adjoins the property. In the evenings, the benches and chairs on the front lawn were a happy retreat to enjoy a cool breeze while fishing and the 4th of July fireworks. We enjoyed our stay and will go again for our next family reunion. Thank you!

Amazing

We went here just for a little weekend getaway for my boyfriend, his brother, his brother’s girlfriend and their kids. We had the absolute best time, such a nice getaway even if it was only for 3 days. The view of the bay from the house is gorgeous and everything was perfect. I will be recommending this stay to anyone I can!

Wonderful retreat

My stay was beautiful, excellent, peaceful, very relaxing. My views from the house was beautiful, the sounds of the waves of the water was much needed to detox from everyday life. We fished & crabbed took in the scenery. Our host is/was great wonderful timely response to all my questions.

Long weekend at Solomons

Our family of 4 came for a long weekend at Solomons Island, where we spent time as kids. The Retreat on the Patuxent is an ideal place to get away for peaceful relaxation, while being conveniently located near the restaurants and attractions at Solomons. My mom loved the upstairs bedroom/bathroom suite, and the downstairs bedrooms were spacious for me, my sister, and her husband. We enjoyed the spacious kitchen, the open family room, and the amazing views of the Patuxent from the front windows. We would love to stay here again, it would be perfect for a whole week vacation.

Had a wonderful time

We came out from Hawaii to see my Daughter and Grand Daughters.The over all experience from start to finish at the property was easy and flawless. Some days it was just my wife and I and other days it was with my grand daughters spending the night, they also enjoyed the stay. There is plenty of room. Perfect Place

The house was awesome, the view couldn’t have been better. Loved everything about it, quiet and peaceful and it is on a dead end short road with wildlife in the yard in the morning, deer, fox, blue heron, bald eagle, geese and ducks, just fabulous. Will definitely be going back soon I hope.

A Fantastic Getaway!

The Waterfront Retreat on the Patuxent River is better than advertised. Our whole family stayed -- everyone loved it! It was clean, comfortable, with everything needed to stay comfortably, sleep, eat, relax and use as a home base for exploring. Solomons Island and the surrounding area was filled with lots of fun things to do (restaurant's, museums, history, boating, walking, etc.).

Over all the property and property owner make this place a second home from myself and my crew. Pete is a gentlemen and an amazing host. He literally knew my team and I come every year and when I had the dates a week off he corrected it while we were Enroute to the event! I can’t say enough great things about tis property!!!!

Amazing Stay

This property was amazing. Everything was clean and stocked with anything you could need. The view is amazing, Couldn't have asked for a better place. Very comfortable. Loved sitting on the deck and relaxing as the boats came by, watching the birds, fishing and crabbing from the front. Just an amazing stay. Close to everything we came to do.

Best stay in Maryland!

This property is beautiful. If you want to crab it’s the bomb. If you don’t crab and just want to sit and look at a gorgeous view this is also the place. The host thought of everything. Super comfortable rooms and beds… great atmosphere….easy to get to. Amenities close by. House is packed with everything for kids and adults alike.

Fantastic stay on the water!

Thank you, Pete, for a great vacation. The place is truly amazing and has everything you need: nice and clean house with it's sole and a fully stacked kitchen, great views on the water with different boats coming in and out, nice and spacious front lawn on the bank where we spent hours playing games, fishing, crabbing, and just relaxing in comfy chairs. Not for swimming though... Special thanks to Pete for his hospitality, prompt communication, answering all the questions and providing clear instructions.

Best Kick back spot ever

Always a phenomenal time, owners are super great down-to-earth people, just a place to relax enjoy crabbing, fishing, birdwatching, watching the roaring Jets go by from the naval airbase. Just super phenomenal. Literally 4,5 summers Consecutively. LOL Oh take a bike ride w/the Provided bikes ONSITE. A must do!!

Another Fantastic Stay

This is our second time staying at Pete's property. We spent a lot of time fishing, crabbing, and watching boats go by. Cages were already baited when we arrived, and we got 4-6 crabs per day during our stay. House had ample supplies of everything we needed to cook family meals throughout the week. Plenty of grocery stores and eateries within a 10 min drive. House was very clean and perfect as a quiet and relaxing place to spend some time with family. Great communication from host - made check in and check out very easy.

Peaceful refuge

Wonderful stay in a well appointed home. Osprey watching on the deck while sipping coffee with no bugs was the best. We greatly enjoyed our stay.

Perfect Getaway!

We love this place! This was our second time renting from Pete. He is listed as a VRBO Premier Host, defined as " Consistently provides great experiences for guests! " That is absolutely true, Pete goes out of his way to make sure that you have everything you need for a relaxing stay. ( Wine and chocolates too! )The house is beautiful , comfortable and clean with fabulous water views and is truly a wildlife retreat as described!

I bought this property in 1985 and built the current house on it in 1990 for myself and my family. We so enjoyed the activities, sights and sounds of the location but outgrew the house. We still live nearby. It is definitely a soothing and stress free location that gives you modern amenities and still allows you to experience nature at its best. The location also has some of the best walking and biking neighborhoods and roads without the hustle and bustle.
