If you find that the hustle and bustle of Camden, Rockport and Rockland can be a little much at times, and you can appreciate pretty rural land - consider staying at the orchard in Hope. Emily and Brien were kind hosts, and the place is idyllic. The terrace outside on the south side of the barn was a great place to sit in the morning and evening, and the deep porch on the east side was a good place to sit and escape the heat of the afternoon. The orchard is picturesque and flanked by low mountains, and if you like to locavore, they have a farm stand 30 yards from the door, and in the neighborhood there is a hennery for fresh eggs, a cookie shack and an apiary with local honey and maple syrup. I can vouch for the apples, sugar snap peas, cabbage and tomatoes from the orchard :-). Megunticook Lake, Hobbs Pond, Lincolnville General Store, and the attractions of Camden, Rockport and Rockville are all closeby.
