We have both been coming to the Outer Banks since we were small children. Back then, there was a ferry across the Oregon Inlet, then steel mats to drive on to get to Hatteras. Hatteras High caught our eye in the late 90's and we started staying here. In 2003, we had the chance to buy our first unit and we jumped on it. This one became available in 2019 and we decided to buy it as well. We particularly like Hatteras Island and Rodanthe because it is much lower key than the Nag's Head area and the northern beaches. Far less traffic, far fewer people. It can still get busy in the summer, but nothing like the northern beaches. Quieter, more relaxed, great beaches, good surf fishing, gorgeous sunsets. That keeps us coming to Rodanthe.
