Four adults stayed here for a long-weekend fishing trip.Pros: The location is great, right on a small canal off the lake, and the dock was convenient. The theater room has very comfortable recliners and is a fun space, though it lacks speakers, so the sound is weak.Cons: The multi-plug adapters used throughout the house sparked whenever more than one thing was plugged in. The oven overheated during normal use (400F for 20 minutes) and its screen went blank, and in that state it couldn't be turned off. The breaker box is behind a locked door, so we couldn't cut power to it either. We only got it shut off by looking up the model and finding instructions online. The listing says "All kitchen utensils, plates, cups, pots/pans included." The "pots/pans" turned out to be two cookie sheets and one small saucepan. Bring your own cookware. The house seems fine at first, but not once you actually sleep and live in it. Dust is caked on multiple surfaces and the fans, and there are lots of dead bugs along the baseboards and in the lamp covers. The beds are old spring mattresses that smelled dusty and were very uncomfortable. At over 300 a night, I expected the listed amenities, a clean house, and basic safety. Next time, we'll stay somewhere else.

GREAT TIME AT A REALLY GREAT PLACE!

I really enjoyed my stay here! VERY clean and cute place with everything a person needs. I especially loved the fact that I just had to go out the kitchen door wall and walk about 10 ft. to go fishing in the canal!

Great location

Great convenient location.place was very dirty and smelly. With the cleaning fees charged it should have been clean. We had to wash all linens before use it smelled like smoke and was not in need of a full cleaning which we did before and after use.

Great Cabin!

For our purposes this cabin worked out perfectly. Went up for a weekend with friends, didn’t want to spend a ton of time at the cabin other than Sleeping and cooking with our pontoon with us. Cabin was clean, ice cold AC, and “steaming” hot water. Ken was responsive in the only message I had to send him. Only recommendation is if you have a boat or a pontoon, probably best to pay $5 and launch near the marina, 2 minutes away; the launch on the canal is a bit shallow if you have a longer trailer. Checks all the boxes for a good weekend.

yearly family fishing trip

The trip was a great trip with my four Kids, a Grandson and my brother. Staying on a canal was nice for mooring our boat, pontoon and relaxing, out of the weather. Unfortunately the slips were not clearly marked which made a daily problem with having space in our slips. Each night we would come in from fishing, there wouldn't be room in our numbered slips for our two boats

Outdoor maintenance needed

The inside of the cabin was clean and well put together. However the outside was in shambles. There was junk pile on the outside of the building. The bushes and shrubs buy the back where you would sit outside were overgrown and needed to be trimmed. Weeds growing through the concrete at the sitting area. 2 old picnic tables were the only outdoor furniture. One table had an old shelve underneath one leg to keep it level the the brackets of the shelf sticking up. Dangerous.

Houghton Lake getaway

Well, for one thing we couldn’t get in due to door code being wrong, after that we each took a bedroom, with one sleeping on air mattress in garage and one sleeping on air mattress in living room, we’re big guys that need room. Exterior of house was filthy, needed power washed with a couple exterior lights needing repair, inside of house was clean, nice kitchen, we ate breakfast there and went to different restaurants for supper. The Keurig coffee pot leaked like a sieve. Everything else was operational, except for television. It was supposed to stream off your personal devices but that didn’t work, we had my 6 year old grandson, and it would have been nice for him to watch something, but the three computer technicians I took with me couldn’t get anything going there. So that was a dealbreaker for us. It was good enough to fish from for 6 days, but won’t go back there.
