Review of My birthday NOLA trip

The stay was overall ok. Our lock malfunctioned around 2 am and the host had to come out. We had to stay in another room for the night without our stuff, but they handled it quickly and communicated through everything. Nothing anyone could predict. The hot tub is shared and was not in use at the time we were there, but overall, it was convenient to everything and we slept great.

The property was great. Great neighborhood. The courtyard was beautiful. Owner was very cordial and receptive. The price for the week was excellent. I highly recommend this property.

Great little cottage?

Excellent experience. Host was great our cottage was clean, private and comfortable. Note the hot tub is shared with others and the host so that part isn’t private.The host also made a fantastic meal for us with fresh fish we caught.Overall great experience.

Great location!

Host was very accommodating. The location is great! The cleanliness was not up to my expectations. Host needs to provide nice bed sheets and covering. Newer bath towels, shower curtain and rugs. Keurig with optional coffees and condiments. Minor details go a very long way!!!! I would stay again if thought my issues were addressed.

Get away for the weekend

Great time nice super quiet place an very nice neighborhood. A lot of stores an food an great place to visit the host is a great guy the only down side is I think the bed could be a little better bit uncomfortable but other than that great place to have a little get away we will be back thank you agin.

FTK Stay

In town for a concert… perfect hide-away. Could barely hear street noise. Just a short walk to the north to Magazine and west to Tipitinas. Uber pick-up to FQ within 5 minutes at the gate. Great places to eat within .5 mile walking distance. Apartment very comfortable. AC worked great!

Mouse Droppings $ Terrible Smell

Garden area as described. When we opened the apartment we were met with an overwhelmingly musty, dank ordor. Mouse droppings around the sink and microwave and in the utensils. All else as described. But TV didn't work.

Nice simple place to stay

Nice location, close to Magazine Street. Owner was friendly and responsive to messages. Unfortunately learned (after arrival) that the hot tub has been nonfunctional for a few weeks. We also were a little put off by the smell of the space - appeared clean but definitely has a bit of a mild odor. Maybe just always a bit damp in that area of town.

Great Mardi Gras Stay

Very comfortable and cozy space with a nice outdoor courtyard as well. Bedroom and bathroom were both plenty large enough and the bed was very comfortable. Great, walkable location. We didn’t use our car once as we walked to all of the Mardi Gras parades and festivities as well as all our favorite restaurants and bars Uptown. Checkin was a breeze.

Amazing Culinary Experience

Our stay here was the highlight of our vacation in New Orleans. The place had a private backyard garden with a picnic table to work from and enjoy our time together. The location is quiet and the street is safe with beautiful homes. It is also within walking distance to Magazine Street (great for shopping) and the green, St Charles Street trolley. We suggest everyone book the cooking experience with Dominique. He is very open to customizing the experience from cooking classes to dinner, so we chose a 5-course dinner and wine pairing. My partner and I travel the world chasing tasty dishes (from a hole in the walls to Michelin stars) and we were blown away by all 5 courses and the flavour combinations he created. Absolutely, A MUST DO!

NOT a 5-star experience

We rented this place based in large part on the reviews and the location. To be clear, the location was great, the host was responsive and I don't know that the pix are deceptive. That being said, this is not a 5-star experience or place. The window a/c units could not keep the place cool and there was a musty smell. The linens were threadbare and low quality. There were flying insects in the space. The wifi was spotty. The furniture was rickety and there was barely enough space for 1 person to move around inside. We had to check out and check into a hotel.

Quiet, private, comfortable place

Instructions for getting in were excellent, couches comfortable, bathroom excellent. Plenty of plugs for our electronics. Friendly & accomodating host.

I was born on the island of Mauritius, which is in the Indian Ocean near Madagascar and South Africa.
I am a classically French trained chef. I grew up with Creole,Asian, African and Indian home-cooked dishes. I am also a sommelier and really enjoy white burgundies, Pinot Noirs, and Washington state red wines.

Please inquire about my availability to create a special menu during your stay, wine tasting, or a cooking class using house-grown herbs, peppers, local ingredients, & local seafood.

I have a cookbook called "Tropical Latitude".
It's about cooking with the tropics from Africa to Brazil, Caribbean, Southeast Asia, New Orleans and quite a few recipes from Mauritius. If interested, I have copies at the house for $29.99.

The location is central and a quick 10 minutes or under $10 uber ride to the French Quarter ,1 mile from Audubon park and Zoo.
