Property was clean and parking was easy to access. My only issue was the refrigerator/freezer was not cold enough to keep anything chilled or frozen. Overall, nice property and good neighborhood to walk and explore.

You walk in the unit and you are immediately met with a nasty sour moldy smell. There is something along the back door to keep critters/mice out. There are many cockroaches that you find every morning, also house centipedes crawl across your feet!! The refrigerator doesn’t work. There is clearly mold in the cracks of the showers forming. Physically felt ill the entire time we stayed here. We had to leave after 2 nights and go stay in a hotel. I would not recommend you stay here. Oh and there is an old pile of poop sitting right outside the back door. Gross.

Great DC visit

good location, steps away from DC street car which takes you to union station and connects to all metro options. Places to eat and shop within walking distance. would recommend!

Tourist

This home was an easy place to find and close to free public transportation! There are several great restaurants within walking distance. The bedrooms were big and comfortable. My only suggestion would to have more seating in the living room. This was a great house to be DC tourists for a couple of days!

Nice surprise

Great close public transportation opportunities—you can truly do your trip to the DC area without renting a car. Fun English Pub (The Queen Vic) within a block. The Wydown about 5 blocks away has THE BEST smoked salmon toast! Host was responsive. Great for a long weekend.

Easy walk to restaurants

We loved the home; it is just as described. On a one-way street, we always found a parking spot a few steps from the house. Perfect for our two-night stay to visit our daughter, a freshman at Howard University. We will go back!!

Overall we enjoyed our stay. I reached out to the property manager during our stay about a few things that could make the place and stay a little more enjoyable. The area is being revitalized. The free trolley was nice and there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance. The property manager was helpful and responsive when I reached out.

DC Vacation

Our family enjoyed our stay at the house. We were close to the DC Streetcar on H street and we used it to go to Union Station and from there we saw a lot of different places in the DC area. The house was big enough for my family of four. There were good restaurants in the area and parking was easy. We communicated with the owner several times and found them to be very responsive and helpful with any and all of our questions.

Great stay in DC

Our VRBO was a fun place with lots of character. We enjoyed our stay while visiting DC and looked forward to coming back to relax after a great day of exploring. The only complaint is that the place advertises that it sleeps 5, which is true, there are only 3 comfortable seats (on the couch) for relaxing and watching TV. There are 4 barstools but who wants to sit on a barstool to relax and watch TV? Also, it is advertised that there is a dryer to use but we did not see a washer or dryer. Overall we enjoyed staying here. The location was great!

Capital touring

met our needs, good shower & kitchen. Cockroaches were also in residence (killed 5-8/day). Largest complaint: arrived on late flight, got to the VRBO after dark, parking on very narrow street in front of condo, we didn't see the sign from city about next morning street cleaning (takes place every week) and woke up the next morning to a $45 ticket. Host could have told us of this....

Just okay

This place looks nicer on the site. It is located close to a trolley and a really good Mexican restaurant. Our host was easy to get ahold of. If you bring your own car you do need to let her know so she can get a parking permit. (We were not actually told this so just a heads up.) There is not a parking spot for the house, it’s just first come first serve street parking. It says there is a dryer but it was in a locked closet. Information needs to be updated on the site. We were not given check out instructions at all. Has a lot of potential.

The apartment was exactly as the photos portrayed. It was close to several restaurants. It was not as clean as other places we have stayed. The disposal was not working. We also have two unexpected friends! Not much sitting area in the living room.

Great stay

We came for the Womens March and greatly enjoyed our stay. Too bad we all had to get back to work and life and couldn’t stay longer. (I actually checked to see if it was vacant so we could call in and stay longer.) The host was responsive and assisted our needs very quickly. The place is not a bad location and all the neighbors that we met were nice. The house is very tastefully done; the stairway and the exposed brick are wonderful. The washer/ dryer is inaccessible but that did not impact us. I would definitely rent this space again.

Well kept house in excellent location

Tidy house was great for our family. Owner was very helpful and prompt in responding to our questions. You can't beat the convenience!! Board the streetcar one block away. In about 10 minutes you can get to Union Station and go almost anywhere from there. There are lots of stores and restaurants along the street car route. If you do drive in or rent a car to park at this house, let the owner know. The owner sent us a parking permit that we printed a block away at Wilson-Epes for 20 cents. Pay attention to the signs that tell you which side of the street to park on to avoid a ticket from street cleaner.

Very basic…and roaches

This property sleeps 5 but only has dining space for 4 and one small sofa in the living room. Kitchen is sparsely stocked with 2 pans, one baking sheet & minimal dishes. Walls, dishes and furniture are in need of repair. Host was notified of roach problem on 3rd day of stay. Host sounded surprised by this but we found existing glue traps under a locked door and bug bombs in the cabinet, so this was not a new issue. Home is close to trolley but reaching subway from its end point is a 7-8 minute walk. All told, we should have spent extra and stayed closer to the main attractions.

Great base for exploring DC!

Check in instructions were provided promptly and were clear - no issues with accessing the property. Everything was very clean. There were a few dead bugs and some flies that showed up but it is very warm and humid this time of year so no surprise that it is an ongoing battle against insect life. I suspect the property had been treated for bugs prior to our arrival. Neighbourhood has lots of places to eat, Whole Foods is very close and convenient (lots of bags available at the property!), streetcar is nearby and free (but we didn't actually take it anywhere). We did rent bikes and ride to the Capital area - very reasonable price and lots of bike lanes so it felt very safe riding around. It was about a 25 minute bike ride (maybe less if you knew where you were going). A couple of things were missing from the kitchen - no dish towels (wash cloths, dish soap were present), and the place needs to be stocked up with full sets of glassware, mugs. We were fine as we only ate breakfasts there, but for folks wanting to eat meals there, they might not have everything they need. The place was very secure and felt safe; however, the door was tough to lock from the inside (from the outside, there were no problems) so it should be looked at (you have to pull very hard on the door to get the lock to engage). This is in a very cool neighbourhood and was a great base for exploring!

I left the property cleaner than I found it

The house was in disrepair (portions of the drywall missing, marks all over the walls) and was not as shown in the photos. It was musty and disgusting - dried boogers on the window sill by where my son was supposed to sleep. So much wrong I cant even list all of it. Refrigerator, garbage disposal, wooden stools, and hair dryer were broken. The internet quit working by day 2. Reached out to the host and at first all they said was it was an old property and no one has ever complained about the state of the house before. After sending pictures of the dried boogers on the wall (which I HAD TO CLEAN before my son would sleep there) the host said, "Oh I guess I need new property management" They did send their property manager by once. She came in without knocking and said, "Yes I see the fridge isnt cold" but did nothing get it fixed. Avoid this property at all costs. The only thing less acceptable than the state of the home was the host's ability to address any of their guests' concerns. I wish I'd had the money to stay somewhere else. I would have left immediately. But I'd already paid for this property so there was nothing we could do. We just tried to stay out all day and not be there at all.

Not ideal

We have stayed in more than 15 VRBOs and this was at the bottom of our experiences. I take reviews very seriously as I use them to help me decide what to book so I feel like being honest is very important. The house was much more run down vs what the pictures show. Walls were pealing and had marks on them. Beds and bedding was old and not very comfortable. Kitchen was not well stocked. Fridge did not get cold. Garbage disposal did not work. Dryer was broken (didn't try the washer once we found the dryer in its condition). The owner responded very quickly at first but once I called out issues, they stopped responding. There was nothing on the description calling out that if you have a car, then you will need a parking permit to park on the residential street. We had to ask after we arrived and then they told us: 'oh we didn't know you had a car.' They should have included that information upfront. We had to pay to park down the street on the first night until we had time to print the permits that the owner sent us after we asked the question. A hassle that could have been avoided with better up front communication. Luckily we spent most of our time site seeing so we really only used the house for sleeping, showering and eating a quick breakfast for the kids (we couldn't really buy much in groceries since the Fridge didn't work). The location was definitely the best part of this house. Not one that we would rent again.
