Kia ora! My name’s Rhys, and I’ve been a proud AirBnB host for over 8 years. I’ve lived my entire life in the Greater Wellington region, so I know this city inside out. I love being a host because it gives me the opportunity to meet people from all around the world and help them discover what makes Wellington so special. I'm a huge foodie and spend a lot of my time exploring the city’s incredible cafés, restaurants, and bustling weekend markets—especially the ones along the waterfront where the food is as diverse as the people.

Having travelled through Asia, Europe, Australia, and the Pacific, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for different cultures and hospitality styles, which I bring into my hosting. My father is Dutch and my mother was originally from Christchurch, so I grew up with a blend of influences that shaped my welcoming nature. Whether you're looking for top spots to eat, hidden local gems, or want a personal recommendation, I’m always happy to help you make the most of your stay. My goal is to ensure guests leave Wellington feeling like they truly experienced it.

この宿泊施設のオーナーになった理由

Wellington is more than just where I live—it's a city I'm genuinely passionate about. What makes it so unique is its geographical setting: surrounded by lush green hills and centred around a stunning harbour, Wellington offers the best of urban life and natural beauty in one compact, walkable package. From the moment you arrive, you can feel the creative energy here. It’s a city filled with culture, art, and expression—home to world-class galleries, live theatre, and the Royal New Zealand Ballet.

But what truly sets Wellington apart is its place in the global film industry. Known as the home of The Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Hobbit films, the city proudly embraces its title as “Wellywood.” Weta Workshop and Weta Digital—both based here—have contributed to some of the most iconic films of our time. You can even visit the studios or take a behind-the-scenes tour to see how the magic was made. As a local, I still get excited seeing spots around town that featured in the films or were part of the production journey. That sense of storytelling and cinematic wonder is woven into the city’s identity, and I absolutely love being a part of that atmosphere.

この宿泊施設の特徴

My property’s biggest advantage is its unbeatable location—right in the heart of Wellington, where everything is easily accessible on foot. Whether you're here for a show, a sporting event, or simply to explore, you’re just a short stroll from the city’s top attractions. Guests love that they can walk to Te Papa Museum, the famous Wellington Cable Car, the Botanical Gardens, Tākina Events Centre, the buzzing waterfront, St James Theatre, Michael Fowler Centre, TSB Arena, Oriental Bay, Sky Stadium, and more—all without needing to drive.

Beyond location, what sets my property apart is the care I put into making guests feel welcome and comfortable. I’ve designed the space with travellers in mind—whether you’re here for business, a family holiday, or a Lord of the Rings pilgrimage. I’m always happy to share recommendations tailored to your interests, from the best brunch spots to local walking tracks or film-related tours. For me, it’s not just about providing a place to stay—it’s about helping people experience the real Wellington in all its creativity, culture, and charm.
