The Mission District is one of San Francisco’s most of-the-moment neighborhoods, packed with trend-setting boutiques, restaurants, and more. But its namesake is one of the city’s oldest icons, the 18th century Mission Dolores.
Mission St. is the neighborhood’s main drag and home to a variety of restaurants and shops. Valencia St. is ground zero for cafes, bars and clothing and accessory shops.
Satisfy your hunger with the Mission District’s famous tacos and burritos and eclectic global foods, from Korean to Caribbean. Find excellent choices along Valencia Street and 24th Street. Some of the best Mexican restaurants, as reviewed by locals and visitors alike, are along Mission Street.
Stay up late to experience the Mission’s popular nightlife. Wherever you turn, upscale lounges, dive bars and dance clubs are open until early morning hours. Have a meal at the indoor-outdoor restaurant at The Chapel, a 1914 arched structure that’s a city favorite for live music.
