Cave Run Red River Gorge Cabin

This A frame cabin is a unique 2.5 acre getaway that is nestled in the Daniel Boone
National Forest just minutes away from Cave Run Lake, Broke Leg Falls, Red River Gorge, Morehead, and about 45 minutes from Carter Caves! You will be surrounded by nothing but nature. If you love the outdoors there is plenty to keep you busy... hiking, fishing, boating, kayaking, mountain biking, golfing, and of course if you just want a place to get away from it all this is your spot. There is a gas and charcoal fire grill to cook those burgers and roast the hot dogs. Fire pit out back perfect to roast marshmallows, eat smores and tell a few scary ghost stories. It’s a great place to escape and enjoy the simple simple things in life.

Other things to note
The cabin is at the end of the gravel driveway. The driveway has a steep incline to get
up to the main road when leaving the cabin. In the case of rain/snow I would suggest
parking at the top and walking down to the cabin. We do have pillows/towels/bed linens
available.
-We do not have any closets, dressers and/or hangers
-We do have a washer &; dryer but it is NOT for the use of guests.
-The cabin is in the middle of Daniel Boone National Forest so therefore you might see
bugs and other animals that live there.
-We do ask that guests take all the food from the fridge/take trash out and clean dishes
before they leave the cabin.

The neighborhood is very quite, and honestly you won’t see anyone because the cabin is very private you can't see it from the road.

The property was fantastic, if you are wanting to get far away from anything and everything then this is the place for you. It’s so quiet and peaceful. My family wasn’t a fan of the waterfall type shower but that’s personal preference. The driveway is a little rough as mentioned and I wouldn’t try it in a car. The cabin was the cutest thing and definitely a nice getaway. The host was very nice, he messaged to make sure we made it in ok and then messaged with some recommendations on things to do in the area.

Do not attempt to drive down to the cabin under any circumstances save for a vehicle with sufficient off-road equipment. The listing cautions against it, but isn’t clear why. We got stuck about 3/4 of the way up the very steep and loose gravel driveway. Had a helpful neighbor not been present, a tow would have needed calling. Aside from that, the cabin would be ideal for a couple or family with older kids. There are AC units in each room, all of which are very noisy. They work best when left running constantly but make a lot of noise. Aside from that, the cabin was well equipped, cozy, and clean. It’s a bit far out from Red River Gorge, but for the price, a 45-60 minute drive to the better trails is okay.

Our stay at this cabin was absolutely perfect. The property was incredibly clean, and the beds were so comfortable that our whole family could sleep warmly and soundly. We had such a wonderful time together here, and we are truly grateful for this experience.Communication with the host, Kevin, was excellent-he was very responsive and helpful throughout our stay. The cabin was exactly as shown in the photos, and the actual condition of the property exceeded our expectations. We were highly satisfied with everything and would love to stay here again. The driveway was quite steep which we had 4-wheel drive. Our son parked his car at the top of the hill. At the front door was a commode on the front porch. The beds were comfortable. The WiFi did not work very well. The recliners were comfortable. The cabin was what was pictured. It was cozy. Fire pit was as pictured.

Not sure about the problem with the WIFI. It's usually very strong. The toilet I had a plumber come out and change. I was not aware that he just left the toilet on the front porch. I deeply apologize for that.

Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay! The property was very easy to find and very clean. The beds were comfortable, and we enjoyed the fire pit. The view from the back of the cabin was gorgeous! We loved sitting on the back porch. The location is part of a neighborhood of sorts with other cabins nearby, but still felt that I had plenty of privacy. A few minor things are a bit worn out: the glass platform in the microwave seems to be the wrong model so it doesn’t spin, the toilet sometimes would run forever and needed to be fixed manually in the tank, the foot pedal of the trash can didn’t work, the screen to one of the upstairs balcony doors is broken, some lightbulbs on the porch are burnt out, and the cooking pans are peeling teflon so we didn’t use them. The air conditioning units worked well, but if you are bothered by loud noises be aware they are very loud.Overall a good stay, especially for the good price.

We weren’t sure what to expect as we are from Wisconsin and wanted a short getaway from the cold. Cabin was nice, and had everything we needed for a nice stay. Being the temperatures got cold at times, the home has some small electric fireplaces. Add one more fireplace to 2nd bedroom as it does get cold in there. Owner was responsive and gave great instructions on check in and directions. The area is not very populated, so make sure you have fun things planned ahead of time and locations. We had a good stay and was nice to get away for Christmas break.
