Alexandra Cottage - Studio with amazing views!

Alexandra Cottage offers a romantic getaway with spectacular, unobstructed and breathtaking views of the Caribbean and surrounding islands. This cottage is located on Pocket Money Lane, a private cul-de-sac. The town of Cruz Bay and the ferry dock are .4 miles from the cottage. The cottage has a King size bed, one bathroom, is fully air conditioned, has Starlink Wi-Fi , which is extremely high-speed and always available, and an automatic generator.

As you arrive at Alexandra cottage, the lush Caribbean landscaping welcomes you to your home away from home. The private stairway leads to this beautiful hidden cottage with its own private entrance. The bedroom is designed to capture the beauty St John has to offer with large glass windows where one can wake up and gaze toward St Thomas and the beautiful views. There is also a sliding glass door that leads from the bedroom onto the side deck. A new addition with a washing machine and clothes dryer was completed in October 2022.

Alexandra cottage has 1000 square feet of living space with Carrera white marble flooring. The cottage has an open floor plan with a fully equipped kitchen, including a refrigerator, microwave, blender, coffee maker, cook top and toaster. The living room area is furnished with a queen sleeper sofa and features a comfortable chair, Smart TV, and a dining table with bar stool chairs. The bathroom is spacious with a white ceramic bowl sink and a walk in, large blue tiled shower.

The deck surrounding one side of the cottage features a sitting area with a Weber grill, a bistro set table and chairs for outdoor dining. There is also a patio off the back of the cottage where one can relax after a day at the beach on the two chaise lounges. Sit back and admire the beautiful sunset and the lights twinkling across the Caribbean waters.

The cottage has a generator for any power outages that might occur on island. The cottage is fully air conditioned and has ceiling fans throughout. Taxis/Cabs will provide transportation if needed for the short ride to Cruz Bay. However, we suggest renting a vehicle to see the island and enjoy town and the beaches. Some guests do walk to town and back, but it is not for everyone. Please note that the cottage is accessible via steep stairs, which may be difficult for individuals with mobility limitations.

We also provide trash service twice a week. There is no trash removal on St John. Normally all trash must be brought to the local dumpsters on the island.

Had all the items as listed. Loved watching the neighborhood Iguanas! Shower was unique and worked well. Due to the extensive tree and plant foliage there was a sense of privacy. All appliances worked well. Amazing views.

This place was amazing. Close proximity to town and parking was very good. Place was very comfortable. Loved all the supplies provided for beach trips like towels , beach bag and two coolers. And also the snorkel and mask. Really specialPlace. The view is amazing and you can see iguanas from the porch climbing the many trees. Go for it . You will not be disappointed.Made for a memorable experience on St. John.

Beautiful view. Watch out for the stairs.

We found Alexandra Cottage clean, well-appointed, and comfortable. The view of the bay is outstanding. The air conditioning worked well, and we appreciated the filtered water dispenser provided. The bathroom amenities and towels were nice, and the washer-dryer is a plus, especially since towels don't dry fully in the humidity. The in-house information about the cottage and the area was very helpful. Communication with the hosts was good, and their local representative responded promptly when we needed to call.We had trouble getting into the cottage because the screen door lock was somehow jammed, so it was best not to close it completely. The stairs present another issue. Be forewarned to avoid bringing heavy luggage, as the steps leading down to the cottage are steep, irregular, and long. Though the inlaid pottery pieces in the steps are lovely, they are also slippery, and one can easily fall since they are often wet from the rain. It’s not a deal-breaker, just be cautious, even with the railing.

We had a wonderful time. Perfect for a couple setting. A couple construction projects on the nearby hill. But usually started after we had left for the day for the beaches. Cozy, Cozy. Kitchenware setup. It was bliss. Recommend for those who like/want a smaller cottage setup. A couple things were of concern (battery in keypad was spotty) but property management helped out within minutes of reaching out. Bed was plush/firmer at the same time. I have back issues and always dread other beds vs my own. Sleep amazingly well. (recommend opening the windows at night - it was like a natural soundtrack for sleeping) Never once turned the TV on. Too many outside things to do. Recommend Cinnamon Bay. Our Fav.

Cruz Bay Cottage

The cottage was the perfect size for two. Comfortable furnishings, clean, books to read, complete kitchen and everything available to have fun at the beach. The view of Cruz Bay from the porch was lovely! Something you could stare at all day! Important....highly recommend renting a car. In order to get that view, the cottage is located up a very steep hill.

What a view of Cruz Bay!!!

First time visit to St. John and Alexandra Cottage worked out perfectly for us. We were there during part of Carnival week and enjoyed the restaurants and the festivities. We found a nice spot to have lunch and watch the 4th of July parade and went back to the cottage to watch the fireworks over Cruz Bay later in the evening. I communicated with the host and the on location property manager and received prompt responses right away - both were very helpful as well. We were very appreciative of all the extras that were provided to make it a stress free stay and to equip us explore several beaches: the cooler, the chairs, the shade tent, the towels ❤️ Loved waking up to the spectacular view right out the bedroom window..... breathtaking! PS also first time seeing iguanas - wow - we saw over 10 hanging out in the tree out back enjoying the leaves. I would highly recommend Alexandra Cottage and hope to come back in the future.

Perfect place to stay!

This cottage was exactly as described - only better! Everything we could possible need was supplied. The view from the deck is amazing, and the cleanliness and washer and dryer were appreciated. The bed was heavenly. We knew there were steps, but just be aware they are not normal stairs - they have different levels of heights which challenged my husband but he hung in there and did it! I highly recommend Alexandra Cottage. Karen's communication was superior!

Cruz Bay Sunsets and Snorkeling

Perfect size and location for two. A/C was a great help as the windows face west. The addition of a washer and dryer this year was also really appreciated. Lovely view and tremendous sunsets! Sunset view from the bedroom and balcony. BBQ grill was great for dinners at home. Easy access to Cruz bay if you want to drop in for happy hour or dinner. St. John never disappoints with outstanding snorkeling at places like Honeymoon beach, Hansen, Maho and Salt Pond. Lots of variety and friendly atmosphere.

Cottage getaway

Very nice! Felt very private to us the way the cottage is situated in the hillside trees. This was my favorite part. Thought everything was super clean and organized the shower was particularly enjoyable. We enjoyed grilling on the covered deck almost every night. Bed was very comfortable. I counted 4 iguanas in the trees. I'm sure there are more. The cottage was well supplied. Appreciated the bottled water!I've been to St John approximately a dozen times. I certainly would stay here again. A rental car is almost a must in my opinion....last but not least, we had some flight/travel logistical issues that Karen was able to assist with. Communication was never lacking. Hope to stay there next year!

6 days in paradise

Very beautiful location, views from the room and porch were lovely. Comfortable bed and sofa, really cool tiled shower area, great BBQ, pretty landscaping. We appreciated the use of the cooler, the tote bag with beach towels, and the beach chairs. All things you cam’t bring with you on a plane! Also located reef-safe sun screen and bug spray which we didn’t bring (we brought the old kind of sunscreen not allowed here.) Kitchen didn’t have tons of supplies, no oven or dishwasher, but we don’t need that, and had enough dishes, glasses, pans, utensils etc. for our us. Has a coffeemaker and filters which is essential! The town with market and little shops is about five minutes away by car and easy to navigate. You could walk to town but wouldn’t recommend: very steep and narrow roads and we aren’t in good enough shape to make it! Hosts were super responsive to questions and requests. Such a comfortable, relaxing place! And St. John is awesome. Gorgeous, uncrowded, spectacular beaches and hikes. Will return, thank you!

Romantic getaway

My husband and I stayed here for our 15 year anniversary. We loved this cute little cottage. It had everything we needed. The view was awesome. The bed was extremely comfortable. The coffee beans and grinder were a perk. We took a short cab ride to the cottage from the ferry dock after having an early dinner then the next day we walked down to town to get our rental jeep. Very easy. We loved having morning coffee on the deck and evening wine before bed. We’d definitely stay here again

Perfect Romantic Getaway!

This is the second time my husband and I have stayed at Alexandra Cottage. It is perfect for a couple looking for the combination of fun and privacy. You are a close 5 minute drive to the shops and restaurants of Cruz Bay and 10 minutes to the north shore beaches. The cottage has everything you need and more! We love lying in bed and watching the views of the ocean. We will stay again!!

Perfect!

We loved this little cottage, it had everything we needed and more! The Neso and the snorkeling equipment were so convenient saving on rentals. The view of Cruz Bay was amazing from both inside and outside!! Our only complaint is that we didn’t have more time! Would definitely recommend!!

Not a safe or easy walk to Cruz Bay. The property itself was really beautiful and the amenities were good. The house came prepared for anything we needed for our week long stay. This place could use a washer and dryer and also the walk to and from town is not a simple and safe walk. This walk is in fact pretty dangerous and treacherous to get to the villa. Some cab drivers did not want to drive us to our villa causing us to walk some nights. If you are physically challenged by steep hills and uneven surfaces you should have a vehicle for this location. You must take your trash out at the bottom of the hill as well. This means if you don’t have a vehicle you will be trekking up and down the hills to throw away your trash. The property itself was great but I wish the walk to downtown was not so dangerous

Vacation St John

We had a good stay. Property as described and was in convenient location. If you are in for a little exercise you can even walk to Cruz Bay. We did this twice however you must be pretty physically fit to accomplish this. Property is in safe location and was very private. Shower is what I call indoor outdoor which to us was amazing

Great VRBO!

My husband and I loved our stay at the Alexandra cottage and are already right to plan our next trip back. The cottage was well stocked with spices, dishware, and beach supplies (SPF tent, chairs, towels).

Dan and I fell in love with St John on our first trip in Aug 2017. On the third day of vacation, we looked at each other and said "We must come back here as soon as we can" and then we asked ourselves "Do you think we could live here?" Hurricanes Irma and Maria hit soon after that and we fell even more in love after witnessing the tight knit community come together to recover and help one another. We knew this was our home and where we belonged.
