My family of 6 stayed for 5 days. The location is great if you're looking for a good beach area and driveability. The waves were a good size for my little kids, even in the winter season when the North Shore waves are giant in comparison. We saw maybe 5-6 people up and down the beach every day. I picked this spot so we could have easy access to a beach for me and my kids, since my husband doesn't like the beach/sand and we never had to make a day trip out of going to the beach. We later stayed at the Aulani Disney Resort and I preferred this beach. The sunrises are beautiful. It's across from the PCC, which we spent a day at. We could have spent more than one afternoon there. Skip the luau but definitely go to the Ha Breath of Life Show. Foodland is close, as well as the Laie Temple and everything on the North Shore. There is so much to do this side of the island within a 40-minute drive. We visited the Valley of the Temples and the Byodin Temple, the chocolate factory in Wailea, Sunset Beach to watch the surfers, the ʻEhukai Pillbox Hike, the Macadamia Nut Farm, and the Dole Plantation. So much more we could have done too.
The house was super clean when we checked in and check-in was easy with a lockbox and key inside. Less great things: we're supposed to park in the garage but our minivan didn't fit. I emailed the owner directly the day we arrived with a question and never heard back. This is probably just a part of island life I wasn't prepared for but wow, there were a lot of flies/gnats/fruit flies/beetles and even ants and a lizard inside the house. We were very careful about keeping the door closed and keeping food contained and away from windows, etc., but there were a lot of bugs for my taste. The house has a few good brooms and I swept up every day dead flies. No air conditioning, which is normal for the area; some nights were more comfortable than others. We shut our windows at night so the roosters wouldn't wake up the kids at 4:30 am (there are a LOT of roosters next door). Appreciated laundry access in the garage. Lots of beach supplies, including water shoes, boogie boards, life jackets and even a toddler hiking backpack. Would definitely stay again for the location. It was a relief to go to a hotel after this though and have fewer bugs and more a/c. However I think this felt like a more authentic island experience.
