The Faerie House is a one-of-a-kind, artist-built luxury retreat in the cedar and pine forest of Idyllwild — with a private hot tub in the tree canopy, a wood-burning sauna with a secret outdoor shower passageway, a projector theatre suite, a library loft, a game room with vintage pinball, and three outdoor fire pits. Sleeps up to 16 across eight distinctive named sleeping spaces. About 90 minutes to 2 hours from Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Diego — and worlds away from everything else.
THE SPACE
The Faerie House was not built to a formula. The bones of this place — the stained glass, the spiral staircase, decades of artistic intention in its walls — were already here. What came next was years of layering: design, atmosphere, and beauty added with care until the space became something genuinely unlike anything else in Southern California.
Large enough for a full group. Intimate enough that everyone ends up in the same room at midnight. Distinctive enough that guests arrive expecting something special and leave saying it was more than they imagined.
THE SLEEPING SPACES — sleeps up to 16 overnight guests across eight named spaces:
• The SkyReach Suite — the primary bedroom: spacious, beautifully appointed, crisp white linens and warm layered lighting beneath vaulted cedar ceilings. The room that sets the tone. Sleeps 2.
• The Enchanted Treehouse Theatre Suite — an immersive cinematic room with full projector theatre setup, a cozy ground-level sleeping space for 2, and — up a spiral staircase art installation — a hidden loft bed for 2 more.
• The Librarian's Loft — an intimate sleeping nook perched above a soaring wall of books. Quietly magical and completely its own thing. Sleeps 1–2.
• The Whisper Room — a wood-nested bedroom with TV, its own gentle atmosphere, and privacy from the rest of the house. Sleeps 2.
• The Woodland Suite — a serene sage-green bedroom with a crisp white bed, gentle light, and a calm that guests settle into quickly and leave reluctantly. Sleeps 2.
• The Revel Room Flex Studio — the moody "everything is possible" space: vintage pinball, dance pole, bar, yoga mats, dedicated sound system, TV, fireplace heater, and a Murphy bed. Included for whole-house group bookings; available as an add-on for smaller groups — just ask.
• The Ammonite Den — a fireside common-area lounge zone that converts to a cozy sleeping space with the provided memory-foam topper and bedding.
Flexible arrangements mean every group of up to 16 finds its perfect configuration — couples claim the suites, kids race for the lofts, and someone always falls in love with the room they didn't expect.

THE LOCATION
Idyllwild is a small mountain arts community in the San Jacinto Mountains — one of Southern California's best-kept secrets. Elevation 5,400+ feet, cool -ish in summer, known for its artists, its hiking trails, and the particular quality of its quiet. About 90 minutes to 2 hours from Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Diego; about an hour from Palm Springs. The kind of place that feels like it was always there, waiting.
## Other Things to Note
You'll have full private access to the entire Faerie House and its forest surroundings — every room, every deck, every fire pit, the private hot tub in the tree canopy, the wood-burning sauna and its secret outdoor shower passageway, and all gathering spaces throughout the property. The Revel Room Flex Studio is included for whole-house group bookings and available as an optional add-on for smaller groups — just ask when you book.
NAVIGATING THE FAERIE HOUSE: This is a multi-level, artistic, open-concept property that rewards a youthful spirit and a sense of adventure. The house features open staircases, loft sleeping areas reached by stairs and a spiral staircase art installation, varying floor levels, and an eclectic collection of art pieces, crystal geodes, and sculptural objects throughout. Two sleeping areas are loft-style — one above the library wall of books, one above the Theatre Suite — offering separation and their own sense of privacy by virtue of being on different levels, though they are open-concept within their rooms rather than fully enclosed. We're happy to answer any layout questions before you book — it's a genuinely unique, enchanted design and we want you to feel fully comfortable with the flow of the space.
FAMILIES & YOUNG CHILDREN: The Faerie House warmly welcomes families and has been the setting for many incredible family memories. Guests traveling with toddlers and very young children should be aware the property includes open-style staircases with wide baluster spacing, loft areas, crystal geodes and sculptural art with sharp edges, and uneven terrain on the outdoor decks and grounds. Parents and guardians assume full responsibility for supervision of young children at all times. Guests with mobility considerations are encouraged to reach out before booking so we can help assess whether the layout is the right fit.
PETS: Welcome with prior approval, subject to an additional fee. Please reach out before booking.
FILMING & PRODUCTION: The Faerie House is available for photoshoots, filming, and productions with advance approval — please inquire before booking.
ADDITIONAL GUESTS: The rate is set for the reserved number of guests. Additional overnight or daytime guests beyond the reserved count require advance approval and may be subject to a per-person fee.
POWER & UTILITIES: Idyllwild is a small mountain community, and — very rarely — the utility company may preemptively reduce or shut off power or WiFi for fire safety or maintenance. In the unlikely event this occurs, it is outside our control and not refundable, but we'll do everything we can to support your experience and help turn it into an adventure. We appreciate your understanding of sweet mountain-town life.
ACKNOWLEDGMENT: By booking, guests acknowledge that the property is an artistic, multi-level, open-concept space with inherent characteristics including open staircases, loft areas, uneven terrain, decorative objects with sharp edges, a wood-burning sauna, and outdoor fire features, and that guests assume responsibility for their own safety and the supervision and safety of all members of their party, including minors, as further detailed in the Rental Agreement.
