Spy Run Hideaway is a 1/2 mile from the Blue Ridge Parkway & pet friendly!

Spy Run Hideaway is truly a one-of-a-kind experience that is quiet and secluded on 17 acres that is nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains full of wildlife. An experience here welcomes you to the serene mountains that include unlimited hiking trails, fishing at Montebello Pond, trout streams, vineyards that have wine tasting tours, and breath-taking rides on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Route 56 is well known by bicycle enthusiasts. Enjoy spectacular views and serenity from our large covered front porch where there is a gas grill and foosball table for family entertainment. The night sky is perfect for stargazing. Not to mention the peaceful evenings you could spend by the fire pit relaxing.
20 minutes from Dollar General Market which offers food and much more 30 minutes from downtown Lexington or Staunton. Both offer an abundance of history, quaint locally owned shops, and fine dining restaurants. Lexington offers carriage rides through the historic town and is home of the Virginia Horse Center. You could enjoy free horse shows at the horse center.

The house was very nice! The rooms were great and it was well cleaned! We loved the screened in porch, it was good to sit in of a morning. Only one note, make sure you buy food before you check in or else you are going back down the mountain to get anywhere near civilization.

Excellent location for our needs! Secluded, peaceful and quiet, but close enough to the Blue Ridge Pkwy making travel easy. The kitchen is fully stocked with whatever is needed to prepare meals. The front porch was my favorite part of the house, so relaxing and restful. Mattresses were comfy. The Host is easy to communicate with for any questions that arise and is open and appreciative of feedback and observations regarding possible corrections for future stays. Love the beautiful, natural area! A gorgeous part of our lovely state.

Excellent property! There were plenty of towels and bedding, and a lot of extras I wasn’t expecting, such as coffee, and a very well-stocked kitchen. Everything we needed was available. There were even dog bowls. The property was clean, and checkout instructions were easy. Communication with the hosts was excellent.

We had a wonderful stay at Spy Run! The hosts were excellent with communication—responsive, helpful, and easy to work with from start to finish.The house itself was beautiful, comfortable, and very clean. Everything felt thoughtfully put together, which made it easy to relax and enjoy our time. There was also plenty of parking, which was a nice bonus.One of my favorite parts was the porch deck—the swing and seating area made it the perfect spot to hang out and unwind.I didn’t realize ahead of time how tucked away the property is, but even though it’s deep in the woods, the way the home sits on the hill makes it feel open, peaceful, and very inviting.Also—major appreciation for the coffee and creamer already there. That next morning cup was not just enjoyed, it was necessary and may have saved the day.I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to others!

Very clean and well appointed with a LOT of extras that made our stay easy and enjoyable. Close to excellent hiking trails. It was a big plus that pets were welcomed as we brought our 2 beagles who had a great time too!

Wonderful One Night Stay!

Perfect one night stop for our family traveling to the east coast. Beautiful, clean and well maintained home in a beautiful mountain setting. Very secluded, but easy to get to. Also set up great for dogs. We're already talking about staying here again.

Beautiful property. There's a steep incline to get to the firepit. A great porch for relaxing. Closeby hiking.

Virginia retreat

We loved this cabin! It was perfect our Virginia getaway, especially with our dog. The porch was a great feature, and all the rooms were comfortable & cozy. Frank & Kim were fantastic hosts, and we can’t wait to come back!

Great spot, great hosts!

We enjoyed using the house as our refuge as we explored the area. The house is clean and very pet friendly! The yard is spacious for outside play and the fire pit is well stocked with good wood!

This property is in the mountains. You must drive about 20 minutes up a twisty, narrow road on the side of the mtn in order to get there. The problem we encountered is that after we got to the home, we realized we were at least 30 minutes away from grocery stores or restaurants. This was not explained to us prior to arriving. We did not read any communication either in the home, in messages with the host or on the listing where this was explained. I suggested to the home owner to consider including this important information for future guests so they could plan accordingly. His response was the term “hideaway” refers to that. So, in case you are like me and do not infer that hideaway means disconnected from stores/ food etc. I am sharing here that , that is how this home is. Also, I encourage you to ask the homeowner about them delivering groceries to the home. We were informed of this option, by the homeowner after we already got on the road to leave this house, choosing to go home early, because we were not comfortable leaving the house to get food and head back up in the dark. Additionally, be weary of the hornets/ wasp nest in the top corner of the door.

Anna was communicative and respectful in her interactions. However, her expectations did not align with the nature of the property, which is clearly described as a secluded mountain “hideaway.” She acknowledged that she was not fully prepared for the remote setting, and her concerns regarding location and accessibility reflect the intended experience rather than any inaccuracy in the listing. We also offer a grocery delivery option, which is outlined in the property description, and would have been happy to assist had we been notified in advance. Additionally, some concerns raised after departure could have been addressed during the stay if communicated in real time. Overall, while courteous, this may not have been the best fit given the type of experience the property is designed to provide. We recommend that Anna in the future review Resident listing before booking her stay to make sure it aligns With her needs. Frank & Kim

Great mt. Hideaway near lots of sights

We cant wait to return in the fall. After fun with family at the sights, we enjoyed our evenings watching the stars in the rockers and listening to the rain pour down. Totally awesome in the large covered porch!
