Ox Glen Coach House, Creekside

I appreciate so much that this wonderful family enjoyed their stay in our home to the fullest. We really do put our hearts into this vacation home to strive to make it the type of vacation home we would fully appreciate. We are painting artists and potters, so we wish our guests to know us through our art. We love the Asheville area and the Blue Ridge Parkway, and we are tourists, and outdoors people ourselves. Sharing all of that with our guests when they ask for a recommendation or idea, is our pleasure and enjoyment with owning this vacation rental. It is music to our ears when people show us they genuinely appreciate our efforts to make the home a great place to relax, and to share our love for the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Parkway, and the communities of Western North Carolina.

I am grateful for the 5-star review from this guest. We truly try to go above and beyond to earn them and so our guest will wish to return on a future trip. We are an older retired couple and the income we earn from this home is often essential, not only to maintain the home, but to supplement our income. We enjoy meeting our guests and giving them local travel tips. Teresa has lived 62 years in the Asheville area, and I worked as a Civil Engineer on Blue Ridge Parkway for 18 years. Our guests come to Ox Glen for many reasons such as class reunions, business trips, weddings, funerals, to visit neighboring family and of course vacations. There are 4 large vacation homes at Ox Glen for a combined capacity of 42 guests. The Coach House can host 12 total guests upstairs and down for maximal capacity. These four homes are located on 13 acres of mountain land, just 2 miles from Blue Ridge Parkway. I thought this to be a perfect opportunity to explain what this guest describes as an exposed hot water heater. Since the Coach House can sleep up to 12 guests comfortably and we have 4 bathrooms, we need a very large capacity 100-gallon hot water heater, so that our guests don’t have to wait for a shower or bath, or ever take one in cold water. Most two-bathroom homes have a standard 50-gallon heater. This large hot water heater is housed in a bathroom closet, two feet below the raised floor level, and it rests on the original slab on grade. We keep the closet covered with a curtain, but we are working on installing a handmade closet door, as the opening is not a standard size to house such a large water heater. Creekside unit is a split level that is raised for the bathroom and second bedroom to be level with the suite apartment in the front of the home. The living room, master bedroom, dining area, and kitchen are nearly level with the parking area, allowing for enough slope to provide proper drainage. There are two completely private suite apartments downstairs of the coach house, with a lockable door between them. Each is a complete private apartment with full kitchens, living/TV room, dining, and bedrooms. The back suite of Creekside can sleep 4 comfortably, and the front suite can sleep 2 comfortably. This is a great set up for a family with grandparents, family or friends that would like to split up into two private homes, that are just a door opening away from each other.
