Beautiful location in the secluded woods

This is your peaceful and serene nature getaway with an off grid appeal. It is secluded and beautiful and borders the Shawnee National Forest boundary. It is right on the wine trail in southern Illinois, with plenty of orchards and famous hiking trails such as Little Grand Canyon and Pomona Natural Bridge. Hunting is legal on this 8.2 acre property, and there are plenty of places to hike on the property and into the connecting Shawnee National Forest. There are picnic areas in the woods and a spacious back deck to enjoy your morning coffee or evening glass of wine while enjoying the sunset. This place is very secluded and there is almost no traffic as it sits on a one lane farm road. The entire home has been renovated and remodeled, with a wood burning stove inside. For 2024, it is in the heart of total darkness for the eclipse! Rent this secluded place and have it all to yourself for the week! Your pets are more than welcome! The bedrooms sleep 5 people. Extra guests are welcome to bring air mattresses. The kitchen has coffee and a coffee maker, as well as ice and water. There is bathtub and a shower for guests. There is also a sheltered picnic area outside in case of rain, as well as a covered back deck. WI-FI has just been added to the home! .

The lodge was just as described, and more. It was clean and attention was paid to details. Before we arrived, our host recommended places to see and a restaurant called Mase's Place, that didn't disappoint. Unfortunately, it rained the day we arrived and all the next day so we didn't explore the property like we had hoped to, but we, along with our 2 furbabies, very much enjoyed sitting on the back porch listening to the rain hit the leaves. We are very much looking forward to staying there again.

We had a great stay! Secluded cabin and a large property just the right size for a weekend away and within 20-30 minute driving distance of beautiful hiking trails/unique and delicious local restaurants! Would stay again.

Everything was very nice. A little tricky pulling in you have to watch for the yellow posts to turn right before the next driveway and it says no trespassing on private property. Ignore that and go ahead and trespass. It’s really very nice the house and the backyard were stunning, and I would definitely stay there again.

This is a great location in the Shawnee National Forest, with easy access to the Little Grand Canyon, Pomona Natural Bridge, and the wineries around Alto Pass. The cabin was clean and comfortable on an uncommonly warm spring weekend. We especially enjoyed the large back porch and views out into the forest at sunset. The cabin is very dog friendly with ceramic tile floors. We also like to cook while traveling, and the kitchen is spacious and well-equipped. The location was very quiet, with no noise from the road or neighboring properties.

This property was great. Unfortunately we were only there for a night and didn't get to experience more of the wilderness but our dogs absolutely loved it. House was clean, smelled a bit funny but not awful. Bathroom was huge which was nice but there is a stepup in the doorway that everyone kept stubbing their toe on. All that aside, the seclusion was really nice and the furniture was comfortable. The bed was a little stiff but it was perfect for my wife.

Excellent secluded home in the heart of the wine country. We love having the wood stove inside during the winter when we stayed. Home was clean and had all the amenities we could ask for our weekend stay. We will be booking again in the spring or summer to bring the kids to explore the woods and the connecting Shawnee national forest property. Close to wineries and restaurants in the area as well as hiking trails. Loved it!!! Thank you!!!

The property was secluded, clean and everything we wanted. Host was amazing and got back to us when needed. We came to just get away and it was perfect. No one close to the property. I don’t think we even heard another car while at the house.

Great family retreat

Our trip was to attend my son's graduation from SIU. The cabin was in an accessible spot to Carbondale and was great for the 5 of us. We enjoyed our stay!
