He’s been there twice and is completely in love with it. To the point we’re looking at coming 4 times a year! We did forget to run the dishwasher so we apologize for that :-( but the overall experience was priceless. Thank you for sharing your little piece of heaven with us.

A Great House If You Are Looking For Peace and Serenity!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We were at Foxwood for five days and had a wonderful experience. The house looked exactly like the photos! It was very clean. We loved the location of the house. It is very secluded so it is extremely quiet and peaceful, serene and peaceful. The hot tub on the back deck was wonderful on the cool mornings. This is a place that I would definitely recommend to anyone looking to get away for a few days.

Great cabin at Canaan!

We got snowed in with 24 inches of snow but we enjoyed our weekend here. Some minimal upgrades to the cabin would be great but overall a nice home!

Mostly loved the cabin

The cabin itself was great. We read a lot of the reviews and the description of the property which I would say was pretty accurate. The property the home is in is absolutely beautiful. The fishing spots were amazing. The cabin itself could do with a good cleaning. We had an issue with ants in the kitchen so we cleaned everything up that was in the sink and ran the disposal that had food in it still. That took care of the problem for the most part. Otherwise we loved this cabin and would definitely stay there again.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: On arrival at the cabin it clearly showed that it was long overdue for a refurbishing session especially on the deck area which is where I had planned we would spend most of our evenings.Unfortunately this was far below what I expected and impacted the enjoyment for our family after we had returned each day from activities ans were looking to relax outside.The BBQ was in a burnt out state and couldn’t be used. The outdoor bin that holds the cushions to sit on was so old it didn’t stop the animals from getting in ans making nests inside the cushions resulting in us not even contemplating using them, they need replacing immediately. The hot tub wasn’t clean and kept malfunctioning so we gave up on using that so couldn’t relaxed at night after a hard hike. Inside was musty but I expected that but otherwise adequate for our needs.I wouldn’t stay in this cabin again and urge the park management to contact the owners for complete refurb to the porch and the equipment, there was also rotten planks on the wooden table ans the porch itself.

Really Great Location

We really enjoyed our stay at Foxwood. The proximity to Dolly Sods was amazing---we hiked there everyday we were there. It was a 5-minute drive to amazing hikes where we saw few people. The house was clean and the kitchen had many, many things! Also, I've stayed at many VRBOs and things like dirty potholders gross me out. There was nothing like that here! Everything in the kitchen was clean and ready to use! I also loved all the hooks! VRBOs rarely have hooks and it's so nice to be able to hang up damp hiking gear, etc. Just 2 suggestions: 1. Figure out the musty smell in the downstairs hall/bedroom. It was really the only thing that might keep us from staying there again....and we probably would stay anyway since none of us have allergies. 2. Is there a way to allow guests to turn on/off the hot tub filter jets? While we enjoyed it and loved that it was super clean, I would have loved to be able to listen to the woods/creek nearby more often, but the hot tub was on a timer and the noise drowned out the forest sounds. But, overall, we would recommend this place and stay there again.

Family stay at foxwood.

Property was nice does need some upgrades, loved the hot tub, and dog friendly places and how the deck had gates, and dogs loved the dog door to go out on the deck, and loved the fox theam threw out the house.

Nice, quiet location. Very peaceful, needs upkeep

We enjoyed our stay at Foxwood, it was quiet and secluded and we loved being in the trees, but the property itself could use some maintenance. There were a lot of downed big limbs on the property, and the outside could have used some attention. Of 2 coffee pots, only one halfway worked. The deadbolt on the front door was the only lock that worked, the upstairs shower door kept coming off track, the upstairs bathroom door from the bedroom with the bunkbeds was not able to close properly, and one of the door's handles leading to the deck was broken. There was also a resident Mr. Jingles who came out each evening to entertain. The cabin also had 8 can openers but not one wooden spoon. Just very odd eclectic kitchen items, as most vacation cabins have. I also was just a little creeped out by all the foxes displayed, a bit overkill. If attention was shown to the place, it would have been lovely. As it was, i was a bit irritated that no partial refund was offered . Would stay in the area again, but not that particular cabin.

A really nice & secluded place to stay

We visited this property before for our 10yr wedding anniversary. We returned several years later for a thanksgiving stay with the kids. This time we returned to celebrate our 26 yr anniversary. The place shows some wear & tear (like I do!), but is still a really nice place to stay. The bed was very comfortable and everything was very clean.. If you’re there, a must visit is the Purple Fiddle in Thomas for some really good music. The area is fantastic in the fall and Blackwater falls is nice place to visit and go hiking as well.

Absolutely Beautiful!

This property is absolutely beautiful! We thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub as we do not have one at home! Our kids are 15 and 11. This was our very first time "Glamping" as we usually tent camp but decided for some luxury this year and we were not disappointed! Overall the house is very clean! Others had commented on the dusty fans which was true but again we're used to being in a tent in the pouring rain so we honestly felt right at home:-) The staff who checked us in and out were friendly. There were signs of a mouse in the room with the bunkbeds but we reported that to the check out people and they said they would take care of that. We would return in a heartbeat!

Nice Little Place With One Exception

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is a nice little cottage that has one major flaw, which is the living room furniture. The couch and loveseat are not only stained and torn, but they are both broken enough so that the springs can be felt on your back. The back of the loveseat is broken in half and cushions for both couch and loveseat are supported by long pieces of plywood. Laughably bad - until you have to sit on them for more than 20 minutes. There is also a worn chair (with ottoman) that isn't much better and a pile of bean bags that feel like you're sitting on foam rocks. The worst part of this experience is that several other reviewers have mentioned the furniture being bad, but we assumed they'd have been replaced by the time we went... big mistake!The upsides of the cabin are that the hot tub appears to be brand new and clean, the beds were all comfortable and there were plenty of dishware/utensils to go around. The location is awesome as you're surrounded by woods on all sides, and the charcoal grill was also in good shape. The wood stove is small but also worked well, and the last renters left behind some wood to get us started (so we did the same). The cleanliness of the cottage was only so-so, the major areas (kitchen counters, bathrooms, floors, bed linens) were all clean but other areas needed some major dusting and cleaning (windows, beams, light fixtures etc. all covered in dust/cobwebs) and there were dirty linens left behind by the previous tenant sitting in the washing machine. We ended up doing some minor repairs/cleaning while we were there (fixed vacuum, LR clock, cleaned kitchen light, etc.) so the place is cleaner now than how we found it. The dryer also didn’t work well as it took 2 cycles to dry one load of linens.The property managers at BOC are very friendly and receptive and I'm confident they will resolve any issues within their control; they also promised to inform the owner again of the furniture.
