Welcome to Bass Harbor Hideaway!

Squeaky clean and cute as a button! All new appliances, mattresses, linens, furnishings, and a comfortable layout add up to a great spot from which to enjoy your Acadia vacation. Spit spot clean and, despite its lower-level location, is bright and sunny with plenty of personal touches to make it feel cozy. Several favorite eateries are near this home, including Archie's Lobster for a fresh Maine lobster cookout, within walking distance! Take the ferry to Swan's Island for a fun day adventure!, and of course, hiking in nearby Acadia National Park.

FIRST FLOOR: Enter through a private entry and step down to the lower level. To the left, a large, comfortable living space with a large screened TV, recliners, and a table that comfortably seats four. A newly re-done Kitchen features all new appliances, a washer-dryer, and plenty of counter space for meal prep. Step up to the small but serviceable Full Bath with a walk-in custom-tiled shower. Two Bedrooms, one with a Queen and one with a Double Bed, are cozy and bright. Worries about the lack of AC? Not an issue - given its lower-level situation, this space is quite cool in the summer, and additional fans will ensure your comfort when required.

OUTDOOR SPACES: Shared yard space with a homemade fire pit (extra points if you can guess what the fire pit was made from!), picnic table, and chairs for relaxing and stargazing: off-street parking, and plenty of natural green fencing to shield you from neighboring properties.

*PETS are considered on a case-by-case basis. The pet fee is $150 per pet. (Please do not leave pets unattended unless you travel with a crate). Please bring something for your pet to lie on or in to protect the furniture. Thank you.

Extremely clean & great location in the quiet side! Even though this was a basement unit, we never heard anyone upstairs. Communication was easy & efficient. Everything we needed provided — towels, coffee, spices!

Was a refreshing change from the busier Bar Harbor side of the island. Small classic seaside Maine villages in the area. Still plenty to do and good places to shop/eat.The property had everything that we needed, very clean and nicely decorated with artwork reflecting the local coast. Lower level of split level but plenty of outside light. Easy to find, close to Southwest Harbor.

We loved our stay at Bass Harbor Hideaway. Paula was kind and helpful and gave us the recommendation to try Archie’s, just down the road, and we loved it. We enjoyed staying on the Southwest Harbor and found great restaurants and hikes that were not so crowded as Bar Harbor. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

We loved our stay. The house was clean and the kitchen was equipped with everything you need (minus a dishwasher) to cook. They also have a washer and dryer. Close to many trails in Acadia and 30 minutes to Bar Harbor. Would gladly stay here again.

Quiet little place to relax after a busy day of siteseeing the surrounding areas. It is not too far from many of the popular attractions. It had everything we needed for a great stay.

Great spot!

The cottage was clean, in great order, and had everything we needed. It's in a very quiet location, which is just what we were looking for. It's walking distance to the local lobster pound, ice cream joint, and general store. Would happily stay here again!

Love this place. Great location. Extremely clean and just as shown in the listing. Easy check out and check in. Friendly and responsive host. Shower is not for tall people but they made the best use of the space they had. Would 100% stay here again.

Acadia National Park

We enjoyed staying on the quiet side of the park. There was still plenty of hikes & sights to see close by and just a short drive to the busy side of the park which we did as well. We enjoyed the accommodations at Paula’s Bar Harbor Hideaway. Paula was very accommodating and helpful with suggestions of things we like to do.

A nice, clean spot on the quiet side of the island, which is our favorite. Everything was as advertised and everything was in good working order. Would stay again if the opportunity comes up.

Stay for 5 days

Nice and very clean home. Perfect for our trip. Easy to travel to Acadia and Bar Harbor by car. Quiet space in Bass Harbor that also has some beautiful hiking nearby as well. Comfortable for space for our dog. Would recommend to other travelers looking to spend most of the time hiking

Wonderful clean space. Bathroom small with 6 ft ceiling if you are tall it might not work well. Rest of the space is standard 8 ft ceilings. We enjoyed staying on the quieter side of the island. Would book again!

Bass Harbor

Staying at this property was as expected. Great price, close to a few restaurants and hiking trails. It’s a bit further than we realized from some of the main Acadia attractions, however was a short drive about 20 minutes or so. The owner was available, but kept to herself. It was nice to know she was nearby in case we needed anything. It was a great stay and we recommend it!

Pleasant, quiet, and all the amenities

The property is obviously relatively new, and therefore very clean and modern. The kitchen and bathroom were very well stocked, the bed was very comfortable (despite the noisy mattress pad). Very handy to have a washer and dryer on site. The owner and upstairs resident was more than nice and accommodating. Would highly recommend if you want peace and quiet after a day of hiking the Park.
