From antique furnishings to vintage architectural details, every element has been lovingly chosen to preserve the home's heritage character while ensuring all the modern comforts you need. It's the perfect serene sanctuary for history enthusiasts, antique lovers, or anyone seeking a peaceful escape from the fast-paced world.

Step outside and immerse yourself in Mayberry magic! Take a leisurely 10-minute stroll to downtown "Mayberry" where you can enjoy delightful dining, coffee shops, ice cream parlors, antique stores, and charming boutiques. Iconic attractions are just around the corner, including Wally's Service Station, Squad Car Tours, the Mayberry Courthouse & Jail, Andy Griffith Playhouse and Museum, Earle Theatre, and the Mount Airy Museum of Regional History. Live music enthusiasts will love that the Blackmon Amphitheater is just a 5-minute walk away!

Your furry family members are welcome here too! We know pets are part of the family, so we've created the perfect getaway for you AND your four-legged companions, complete with a secure fenced-in backyard where they can romp and play to their heart's content. (Additional charges apply)

Walking distance to downtown from this home in the Historic District. Dog friendly with a fenced backyard and toys downstairs in the screened porch. 3 BR and one bath with shower. Very responsive owner.

Beautiful, pet friendly home with lots of extra special touches to make you feel at home! Can’t say enough wonderful things about our stay in here. There was a welcome tray for us with brownies as well as a dog bed and bowls for our fur baby. The screened patio was a great spot to sit in the evening. It was close to everything “Mayberry”. Super clean inside and out and one of the best VRBO places we’ve stayed in! Would stay here again any time. Thank you Phobie and Thomas for making us feel so at home in this “home away from home”!

We really enjoyed our visit. Everything you can think of was provided. Linens and beds were top quality. When they say pet friendly they really mean it! Dog bowls, blankets, towels, and waste bags were provided. Delicious brownies were waiting for us when we arrived! Could not ask for more.

Wonderful place. Very welcoming host, the brownies were delicious. Everything was exceptionally clean. My wife would like for ya'll to come decorate our house. Beautifully decorated place. Our pups enjoyed the back yard too.

This was the most impeccably decorated and lovely home I've ever stayed in. Actually took pictures of interior for my own inspiration. Thoughful amenities and attention to detail was so appreciated! The location was very walkable and such a lovely neighborhood. Old Mt Airy was so fun and charming.

EVERYTHING was great, home was beautiful, description was accurate and the host was very thoughtful and quick to respond! It truly felt like a home away from home, we were very comfortable and loved our time there. The only thing that would have made our stay better would have been MORE TIME THERE!!

Traveled with 3 generations & one pup. We all enjoyed it. The house is on a quiet street. We took a few walks & felt safe on all the surrounding streets. We enjoyed the back yard & screened porch. I did not like going from the back door to the yard though. Would be safer for those with dogs to access fenced yard directly but It’s down a few steps & then a few feet to the gate. Once inside the gate, the yard felt secure and I appreciated some native plants & trees. I found beautiful & tasty mint out there too. I’d have liked a chair or 2 in the yard. There was plenty of coffee & we enjoyed breakfast in the front nook. I was surprised there was no blender.We watched the very 1st Andy Griffith show - that was a treat! There were plenty of places to gather or separate in the house. The couches weren’t comfy but the mattresses all were. WiFi was good and that helped the person working & student too. The bathroom was lovely & the shower felt luxurious. I appreciated the paw wipes, poop bags, blankets, stainless steel bowls, & towels for dogs. Noticed a lot of dogs in the artwork. AC worked well. We gobbled down the brownies-yum! Downtown Mt. Airy was quaint with restaurants & shopping. Pilot Mtn St Park was a quick drive & beautiful. I would recommend this home & host too.

We had such an amazing time. Our host was very quick to respond to any questions. The welcome tray with banana nut bread and hand lotion was such a sweet surprise. Cannot give this host the stars that they deserve because five is my limit lol. Will not hesitate to ever use this host again.

The home is lovely and in a good location close to downtown area. The king bed was comfortable. The shower had great water pressure. We appreciated the Keurig coffee pods and the loaf of banana bread on arrival. There were pet food/water bowls & towels by the back door for our dog to dry off after it rained. The host had thoughtful extras to make it more comfortable. We loved the Christmas tree set up in the front room! Thank you for sharing your home!

We did not bring kids or pets, but if we had, it would have been great for them. The large fenced-in grassy back yard would be perfect for running around and getting exercise. To be honest, we were a bit apprehensive that the place would have evidence of pets staying there, but honestly, there was not a single pet hair or pet odor ANYWHERE. I have stayed at many rental units, and I believe Serene Sanctuary is the cleanest home I have ever rented.The furnishings were very comfortable, especially if you enjoy your mattresses firm. The 1940's vibe added to the ambience. With just one bathroom, it was okay for 4 people sharing. The shower is upgraded and fabulous. Thanks for the complimentary bottled water and banana bread. We all agreed it was a lovely stay.

We very much enjoyed our short visit to Mt Airy. The downtown area was wonderful and we had a beautiful hike at nearby Pilot Mountain. Our rental was clean and located very close to the local sites. We appreciated the little touches from the brownies for the humans to the dog bed for our four legged friend. Our host, Thomas, was accessible, though we had no issues that needed attention. I would gladly stay here again.

We had such a wonderful time. My husband said he liked it because it was so relaxing. No sirens in the background. No loud, early-morning noises to wake you up. No worries at all. The entire house was immaculately clean, even though it's pet-friendly. My favorite was the shower. The water is soft and makes your skin feel so moisturized. Plus, the rain showerhead just takes me away. I whole-heartedly recommend these hosts and this rental. If you want to be spoiled, stay at this quaint, little home away from home.

This property is in a great location. It's within walking distance of main street and may of the Mayberry attractions. This property is over the top pet friendly. Alot of attention to detail with many pet amenities that most pet friendly VRBOs don't provide including a fenced in backyard for our fur baby to roam around in. Communications with the host were excellent both before and during our stay.
