Strengths: Host was very communicative. Location was great—nearby restaurants, coffee shops, and the farmers market. Master bedroom bed was comfy. Weaknesses: This rental needs a deep cleaning. It is historic, so I give some grace for that. But the kitchen had caked on grime on the glass top range. The refrigerator and dishwasher looked like it had just been wiped down with water and a sponge. The blinds were dirty where something that had splashed on it. There was mouse droppings in the bedroom closets but since the floors hadn’t been swept well, I don’t know how old it was. We saw no evidence of pests other than the droppings. There was a wifi issue the last night which he was fast to respond to once I notified him the next morning. When I moved the modem from the floor, there was a woman’s fingernail underneath. Street parking can be difficult on the weekend evenings when the area is busy. Linens were minimal—comforter on master bedroom had no duvet. Also, listing states there is a washer/dryer but there isn’t one in the rental. There is a coin operated set in the basement of another building and a laundromat nearby, but listing doesn’t detail that at all. The laminate floors are peeling and the updates that have been made are in need of repair. I really think there is room for improvement here. The buildings are historic—most of the buildings in this area date back to the late 1800s. That makes this place really unique but it hasn’t been updated well.
