Avocado Cottage March 2025

Our stay in Grand Cayman at the Sea Orchard Resort was wonderful. The on-property staff were excellent! They were available to help with any of our needs and kept the grounds and cottage beautiful. We'll be back next year.

Our stay was absolutely perfect. The Cottages are beautiful and well appointed. The grounds are exceptional, and the West Bay is a favorite place to stay- especially with the sandy beach at the resort. Vic, the assistant, is the most helpful and wonderful support. We loved it here and although the island is suffering from too many visitors and too much plastic in the ocean, West Bay is sleepy, safe and wild. Stay here. The pool and the sunsets will settle in your memories forever.

Stay at Sea Orchard Retreat

If one is looking to relax in a beautiful environment, this is the place. These cottages are very comfortable, well appointed. Any little issue that came up was promptly addressed by Fiona and her staff. Everybody was super friendly. The cottages at some point were fully rented and still it was quiet and private. If you want a quiet retreat, this is it. If you want glitz and excitement, then choose a resort.

Fantastic small resort

Our group of 6 couples rented all 4 cottages at the Sea Orchard Retreat, and we had a great stay at this intimate beachfront resort. The pool area is wonderful with plenty of lounges and tables/chairs and we spent hours poolside tanning, playing cards, enjoying music, and eating some meals. The cottages are very modern and have a great layout with a king bedroom on one side and a queen or 2 twin bedroom on the other side, providing very good privacy for every couple. Each unit has a full kitchen and washer/dryer, enabling us to eat some meals in and also do some laundry. A nice audio/video setup allows you to watch TV via AppleTV, or play music throughout the cottage due to speakers in all of the rooms. The Wifi was strong, and cellphone service was adequate. This is a very private, quiet resort, allowing you to have a very relaxing experience or to be a bit rowdy without worrying about disturbing the neighbors. We arranged for massages one day that were done in a small cabana down by the beach, and this was an amazing, relaxing experience for the wives. There are also excellent amenities such as kayaks, snorkeling gear, water shoes, plenty of beach towels, etc. You are only a short walk to the Pappagallo Restaurant where we had a couple of fantastic dinners. I would absolutely recommend this resort for groups like ours, and also for smaller groups that may take 1-2 cottages.

Almost perfect

My wife, another couple and I stayed here for three nights and really enjoyed the place. The pictures are an accurate representation. Everything in the unit was well decorated, new-ish and in great condition except for a faulty GFI outlet by the sink. The property is a set of four free standing units and felt like a well landscaped mini resort. We were the only guests so we had the entire place (pool) to ourselves. The only sound was breaking waves and blowing palm trees. Very tranquil. Would be different with 10-15 other people we didn't know sharing the place. Bonus if they are fun and you are looking for a party. Guess it depends on the experience you want. Available for free onsite were four new tandem kayaks and several sets of snorkel gear. The property is within walking distance to a national park with miles of trails through the mangroves and along the ocean. We hit the park every morning for a run and loved it. The surrounding area felt very safe. A full grocery is a 10 minute drive and a small convenience store with liquor is less than 5. George Town and the resort area along Seven Mile Beach are a 15-20 minute drive depending where you are going and traffic. A nice Italian restaurant is a quick walk away, but not much else is within walking distance. The following are reasons we did not score five stars. There was a small workout room in another building, but when we opened the door a musty/moldy smell was so strong we didn't even consider going inside. The spa didn't work during our entire visit. The property management did have a repair person come by but he failed to fix it (management was quick to provide the small discount we requested as compensation). The property is right on the water and the view is amazing but the beach is small (5 to 15 feet depending on tide) and steeply sloped. In the water there is no sandy area, only rocks/coral. Unfortunately, the snorkeling wasn't any good from the beach. Overall we really liked it and would come back, especially if we could have friends rent all of the other units.
