We are also well situated for wine lovers, perched on the border between the Chianti area and the Crete Senesi, which takes you to Montalcino for the Brunello and Montepulciano. .. some suggestions for places to see on this side of Siena, as well as a visit to Montalcino to taste the famous Brunello wine and see the amazing views might be to go further into the countryside to the Abbey of Sant'Antimo where the monks still sing the services in the old Gregorian Chant (plain song) and/or backtrack to the main road and proceed to Pienza for the pecorino cheeses and a palace built by a Pope, allegedly around another magnificant view! Further on is Montepulciano, another famous wine town. Other places in the area include delightful little medieval villages like San Quirico and Bagno Vignoni, an old spa town with a pool as a piazza! All these little towns are all full of history and tradition. On the way back at Buonconvento you can turn off to the right following the signs for the Abbazia di Mont'Oliveto Maggiore, another beautiful abbey to visit.... They have a winery and distillery too!
We hope you'll enjoy your stay at our cottage.
