I have a serious case of wanderlust and have always traveled extensively. Some places I go to once, others many times, however when I hit the beach at South Padre for the first time just three short years ago I immediately felt at home. I found a way to go 4 times that year and the search for the perfect property was on.
La Internacional is the perfect locale in my opinion. It is the closest property to the Gulf so the views are the best. Wanna Wanna is just next door and is a great laid back waterfront open air bar & grill. They have live music on the weekends and mellow tunes with a good sound system otherwise. Also in walking distance is the Laguna Madre Yoga and Meditation Center, where you can take not only Yoga, but Zumba, Pilates, Tango, & Hula. They have massage services, too! Many restaurants are also within walking distance, including Parrot Eyes, which I adore not just because the food is wonderful but also because there are always pelicans hanging out waiting for the fishermen to give them a treat. While it's a bit of a jaunt, I also walk up to Turtle Inc. It takes me about 10-15 min. What else do I have to do? I will jump on the Wave (see below) if I'm feeling lazy. It's really not to be missed. Learn about the Sea Turtles and get to see them up close. If you get there close to opening, they will even let you 'feed' one. Dolphin watching is also good on the island and the pod that lives here likes to play with the boats so they are easy to see. I could go on and on, but really, being on the island just feels good!
