We returned to Paris 20 years after our first visit, and by happy coincidence, we were here during Bastille Day. This apartment was the perfect home base to enjoy the occasion—and much more. Located just minutes from Notre Dame and Luxembourg Gardens, it was ideally situated for our walking tours, croissant baking class, and relaxed afternoons in the shade.We had the rare and unforgettable experience of enjoying all the Bastille Day festivities right from our balcony. From the military flyovers and skydivers during the day to the breathtaking fireworks, lights, and drone show at night—it was absolutely magical to witness it all from the comfort of our own space. The views from the balcony were, without a doubt, the highlight of our stay.We visited during a July heatwave, and while the first night was uncomfortably warm, we soon discovered the trick: closing the shutters from early afternoon until sunset helped keep the apartment cool. After 8 p.m., a wonderful breeze flowed through, and we enjoyed the rest of our evenings with the windows open—though one early morning visit from a few noisy revelers did briefly interrupt my sleep (my husband, of course, slept through it!).The apartment itself was spacious, with a beautifully updated bathroom that had excellent water pressure and the most delightful shower gel—which doubled nicely as hand soap.
