We have visited Hilton Head many times over the years and always enjoyed our stay. This year was no exception. We were disappointed in the unit that we rented. On the positive side, the unit size was very comfortable for our family of 6 adults and 4 small children. The kitchen was well stocked with all the utensils one could need. The unit was also well stocked with paper towels, toilet paper and dish washing detergent. The beach accessories: chairs, toys, cart were very much appreciated. The unit also has a nice collection of movies, books, and games.
There were several items of concern with the unit. First, the ceiling fan in the living room was not working properly so we had to rely on box fans (supplied) to keep air circulating. The "third bedroom" was very small and windowless. The children enjoyed the bunk bed but, the additional twin bed was a mattress and box spring lying on the floor. The ceiling fans in the bedrooms were is desperate need of cleaning. When we turned them on dust flew all around the room. The rugs and carpets were also in need of thorough cleaning. The washer and dryer are situated within the master bedroom which made it difficult to access depending on the time of day and use of the room. A second odd feature of the unit is that the upstairs bath is inside the second large bedroom. So people in the upstairs bedrooms had to go through the bedroom to access it.
Most reviews stated that it was a 2 minute walk to the beach. In actuality it is more like a 15 minute walk. The only access to the beach is through the parking lot of the Holiday Inn on the opposite side of the street or by walking down to Coligny for the public beach access. This is quite a hike, especially lugging beach gear and for the elderly or persons with any physical limitations.
