The apartment that almost ended my trip to England and my marriage

First the pros. 1. Location: Decent neighborhood, with close proximity to Paddington train station and to the wonderful Little Venice area. 2. The living area was nice, with space cleverly maximized. 3. Washing machine worked. Cons 1. That 2nd bedroom. Where do I begin? The bed being on the floor and its short height was for either children or midgets, making it challenging each time getting up. The bed also takes up much of the room. With a TV mounted on the wall facing the edge of the bed, the only way I could make my way around without falling was to either crawl on my knees or grab a hold of the TV as I sidestepped around the bed. I am not being dramatic when I say that my wife that first night was in tears and threatening to go to a hotel. 2. Then insult to injury, that 2nd bathroom. It was like being in an airplane bathroom. The sink was so small and narrow, you couldn’t even put a bar of soap on it. 3. Nick or whoever is responsible for the key situation needs to get a new set of locks on both the door leading into the building and the door into the actual apartment. So much time wasted each day fiddling around with the keys trying to open the doors. 4. Again, not sure if this is Nick, but the owner of that building should be ashamed. The only one on the block with peeling paint, chipped walls, and mold visible above the door. Overall, renters beware, as that 2nd bedroom and the way it’s currently set up is not suitable for adults.

Great location for a family base in the city

The flat is exactly as it looks online. Rooms are small but that is to be expected. Kitchen supplies are modest but sufficient if you are not cooking a major meal. The location is great. The building was great and every thing worked great!

Great place

We had a great time at this flat, the location is great as a starting point to explore the city with Paddington so close by and the direct neighborhood is also fantastic.

Building entrance and landing desperately needed a vacuum but unit itself was very clean. The smaller bedroom at the front was a little noisy due to sirens.

London getaway

This place was great for our 4 day getaway with another couple with comfortable beds and modern bathrooms for each of us. Close location to the Paddington station made it easy for us to access all of London!

Short London break

The apartment had all we needed for a short London break. It was an easy walk to Paddington Station making it easy to get around town and to Heathrow Airport. There were plenty of great restaurants within a 20 minute walk and a full size grocery store within a 5-10 min walk. The flat itself was comfortable, well kept and as advertised but the building it was in could use some TLC.

Family trip to London

What a wonderful place to stay. It was perfect for our family of 4. The flat was so close to the Paddington Tube and was in the heart of everything. The rooms were great and it was so nice to have 2 bathrooms. Caroline was wonderful and always a text away with any questions. This is the perfect place to stay while in London.

Great location, great host, issues with small details

We loved the location, right neat Paddington Station. There’s a Waitrose 5 minutes away on foot. Nick was very accommodating of our arrival time, which we appreciated. There were some issues with some detail items. The coffee maker was filthy and we had to clean it to use it. The drain in the master bathtub is very very slow. The WiFi only really works in the living room. Nine of these things bothered us too much, so 4 stars.

Great Location

The flat was perfect for our group of three. Between the two bedrooms and fold out couch in the living room, we all were all able to have our own space. Two more people could have easily stayed with us. You really can't beat the location. Being close to Paddington Station means you have great access to all of London and various day trips.

Good apartment and great location

We had a very nice stay in London at the apartment. It was in a great location, convenient to the train and tube station, grocery stores and restaurants. Nick is very responsive and is only a text away. Whatever you need to whatever questions you have, he was readily available. This is a huge help and added benefit to the apartment.

Great Visit

The property was great and very comfortable. Worked perfectly for our family of 4. Great location and easy accessibility to the tube and getting around London. Especially enjoyed the air conditioning as we slept well getting over our jet lag.

Great location

Nick met us early since our flight got in at 6:00 am- the usual check in time was much later and he met us at 11:00 am. We stored our luggage in a small shop and explored the area until we met up with Nick. The location is ideal since it was easy to reach the underground and the buses. The only criticism I have is that the drains in the showers and sinks are very slow. One of the bathrooms is very small and all 5 of us individually took showers in the larger bathroom. The beds are very comfortable. The neighborhood is lovely. So much to see and do. There is a washing machine but no dryer and it takes a long tine for clothes or towels to dry on a hanging rack. We loved London -Enjoy your stay!

Perfect size apartment for 2 adults and 3 teenage girls. Great Locatikns

Perfect size for 5 people, 2 adults and 3 teenagers. It is in an perfect location, easy access to trains, tube, restaurants and a grocery store. The air conditioning was a great plus as it was a little warm in London when we were there. Master bedroom is really quiet. You could hear the city in the other bedroom but my girls really loved listening to the city at night. My only issue was the lighting in the bathroom was a little dark for the girls but just fine for my husband.

Cool Paddington Apartment, great host

PROS: great Paddington location, 3 blocks from train station, bus stops on the corner, Nick is a phone call away, he met us at the door, answered questions by phone. Clean, large 2nd floor, 2 bedroom apartment, well furnished, lots of room in kitchen, living room, 2 bathrooms, all appliances work well. The unit is well maintained, with lots of storage space, an outside deck with furniture. TVs in every room if needed. CONS: street noise (sirens, buses, traffic), front bedroom and deck face the noise (earplugs fix?) Exterior, common area space is dated, (paint, carpet). Wi-fi range limited to front rooms. Has a wash machine but no dryer. Bottom line: for a couple, this unit worked well. 2nd bedroom is an option for others but consider the street noise. Price is competitive with small hotel rooms. Thanks to Nick for being a great host.

Great place for a London stay

Great apartment for our short two night stay in London. The unit was as we expected, as advertised. It wasn't far from many area attractions, but we had my 72 year old mother with us, so we Uber'd to most places. The unit was clean, comfortable beds, and worked well for us.

Great London location and updated apartment

Had a great time in London and the apartment we rented met all our expectations. It was an easy walk from Paddington Station or Underground. Lots of restaurants in the area. Nick was great - met us early to let us in and gave us great information on the area. He also quick to respond when we had a few questions. Would recommend the apartment and area to anyone traveling to London!

Perfect location and apartment for us!

We had a great stay at this Paddington apartment. 2 blocks from the tube station, perfect size for 5 people, clean and neat and close to shopping for groceries and some good restaurants and take away places. It was a big plus having air conditioning as London was experiencing a heat wave when we were there. Would definitely stay here again!

Perfect London Flat

Perfect location, responsive owner, and great apartment. We arrived late and hungry, Nick had drinks and snacks waiting. The beds were very comfortable and black out curtains made for a great nights sleep.

Great Apartment/Flat

I, along with my husband and 2 teenagers (girl & boy), just returned from a week in this apartment. It was just like the pictures. Having 2 bathrooms when traveling with a teen girl is almost a must. The apartment is very modern with flat screen TVs in all the rooms, Wifi, great air conditioning, a stocked kitchen, dishwasher, small washing machine, a great balcony, and comfortable beds. Being a short distance from Paddington Station was great. We walked there in the beginning, but as the week went on, we would take the bus (the stop is very close) to the Paddington tube stop to save our energy. There isn’t a lot of extra room to store luggage, but we made it work. You may want to keep that in mind if you are looking at staying here with 5 people as you will probably want to pack light. One person would have to sleep on the fouton in the den which seems very comfortable. All in all, it was a fantastic trip, and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again upon a return to the area.

Lovely flat in London close to Paddington Station

We had a great time staying at Nick's flat. Nick was very welcoming when we first arrived. The flat had everything we needed (towels, hair dryer, coffee maker) and was in a good location to easily get around the city. The beds were very comfortable. The reason I am only giving the flat 4 stars is that each of the beds did not come with a fitted sheet. There was a flat sheet that would sometimes move as you slept. Also, getting programs on the television was spotty. In the small bedroom, you had to move the TV to just the right angle to get it to work, otherwise it was full of white noise. There were 2 bathrooms on the property. One was a large bathroom with a wide mirror. The small bathroom was just that - quite small. Mornings were a little crammed and chaotic as we had 4 girls all trying to get ourselves ready each morning. Also, it would have been nice if there was a full length mirror somewhere in the apartment. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend staying at this flat to other travelers.
