Beautiful Lake!

We had a great stay for the eclipse. The cottage is right on the lake and so peaceful to look at from outside or from the living room inside. We were able to bring our dog and my kids enjoyed walking down to the lake to look at shells and skip rocks. Sightseeing around the area had many waterfalls and trails that were nice to explore as a family, including our dog.

Beautiful cottage

Great place for relaxation, sunsets & boating Cottage very clean, comfortable & everything you need. Midge is very responsive & a pleasure to rent from Advice to boaters, Hibiscus Harbor within walking distance & nice place to rent a slip; however, the launch is pretty terrible, you can launch 1 mile down at Frontenac Park for $6 and much safer for you & your boat.

Swimming, Sunsets & Campfires

I stayed at Sunset cottage for a week. We had beautiful swimming weather. My nephews used the kayaks daily & caught small perch that they released. The cottage was very clean & beds comfortable. We had campfires on the beach every night. Midge responded to our needs very quickly.. It was a wonderful Finger Lakes get away.

Cayuga Lake Cottage Vacation

Had a wonderful time staying at this cottage. The property was just as presented. Very comfortable. The proximity to the lake was wonderful with a nice area to sit to the left of the dock. One of our favorite parts were dinners on the deck overlooking the lake while watching the sun set. Midge was very communicative and helpful. I would highly recommend this property for a peaceful vacation.

Lovely week on the lake

We rented both cabins for a week-long family trip. They were both very clean, well stocked, well maintained and comfortable-a perfect home base for day-trips around the lake. The beach was very private and large enough to a accommodate all our guests--including our golden retriever, who had a blast jumping off the dock, and the sunsets, spectacular. We didn't have time to use the kayaks, but they were new and in terrific condition. We're looking forward to returning.

Amazing view of Cayuga Lake

The cottage was perfect for my boyfriend and I. There were plenty of towels, dishes, utensils, etc. Owner was extremely responsive when the power went due to a storm and was able to get us ice from the cottage next door and was willing to bring down a cooler and more ice if we needed. The only thing was that the listing stated coin laundry so we assumed it was in the campground next to the property or even on site but it was the laundromat up the street. We should have asked and clarified that during booking

We enjoyed our stay at the Sunset cottage. From the beautiful lake and sunset views, to the perfect location that is close to good food and family fun, it was a fine accommodation. It has some nice amenities such as a large fridge and gas stove, two kayaks and a fire pit on the "beach" (it's not sand, mostly shells and pebbles), plush bath towels and a deck for relaxing and dining outside. A few honest notes: the cottage, the furniture and some kitchenware could really use a spruce up and a bit of a deep clean. It smelled very musty when we arrived and needed a good airing out and vacuuming before we could relax. There iis not adequate clothing storage for a family and the only dresser is small, very hard to open, and made our clothes smell musty. We also found some mildew on a few kitchen items but we understand this can happen with the water so close. There is a bit of pet hair on some of the linens. No big deal for us as we have pets and this booking allows dogs, but FYI for others. Also, neither the entry to the cottage nor the stairs to the beach are great for people with mobility issues. The front entry is a steep hill, even using the staircase, and the front step is too high, and it moves when you stand on it. Midge is a sweet host with great communication, and she has a lovely spot that is perfect for a quality family getaway. It might be in need of a little bit of love but that shouldn't stop anyone from visiting, we just want people to know what to expect.

Hi CJ and Maigen, I just wanted to Follow up With your review of staying at one of my cottages this past week. I appreciate your kinds words and also a heads up On the wooden spoon and utensil that had to be dishwash… I typically go through the cottages and check all this in beginning and also throughout the season Because not everyone is as particular about things. I also had notice a mustiness and wondered if it was from the previous guest, I have gone through to Double Ch ek and will be replacing the area rug which might be the culprit. I do regularly launder the comforters and throws.. And you are right , being pet friendly has it’s challenges… but over all my guest have been grateful To have such a nice spot and to be able To bring their four legged family member. Also I have hired a contractor to rebuild the steps adding another step . So thanks For your thoughts and I do hope you return some day. Take care, Midge

Two Bass Fishermen

Cabin was clean and pleasant. We had 5 days of super windy, cold, and crappy weather. We have been to the lake before, so we know the fishing is good. We managed to catch some very large bass, but we had to work for them. And we wore our winter, rain proof hunting clothes. That being said, our only issue was that we had a 21 ft bass boat and a large truck. Backing up a hill, while turning up the drive with large ruts in the road was tough. As with most camps and campgrounds, there are not places to turn around, so 4- wheel drive is a must if bringing a boat to this camp. There is a dock available, but we did not use it because of the whitecaps and wind. We appreciated having a gas grill available, and the stove and oven worked perfectly. The small heater surprisingly kept the whole place warm as it got down to 43 degrees. We turned on the ceiling fan and soon turned the heater down! Our host was readily available for texting questions. We actually left a day early since the weather was just not letting up and hanging wet clothes to dry all around the cabin was getting old. There is no refund for leaving early btw. We would definitely come back to this cabin if we decide to visit Cayuga again.

Hi Lance, Thanks For the review which is great for the fishing community. I have hosted many people who fish and even professionals who participate with the national brands. If the weather was calmer it would have been great for you to tie up on the dock.. Hope you can come back, you’ve got me Contact info and happy to give you a credit for the early departure next year..

Beautiful sunsets

This was a very cute small home located directly on the banks of Cayuga Lake. It was well equipped for our stay. We had adequate towels, kitchen tools and bedding for the two of us. The patio overlooking the lake was very nice. There was a picnic table and a barbecue grill which we did not end up using but it was available. We enjoyed sitting there despite the bugs and mosquitos. Bring repellant! (On the last day, I did discover bug spray in the bathroom cabinet). Oh well. Our last day at the property, there was terrible winds and storms. We drove (just 2 hrs) to Niagara Falls (where it was sunny and beautiful) to escape the weather. Midge was great to work with and offered up any assistance that may have arisen. There was only one complaint from us. The cabin needed an airing out really bad. It smelled sour like and moldy. We got a couple candles and kept the windows open pretty much the entire time that we were there - the odor diminished but never completely disappeared. We are fortunate that the weather was so pleasant that we could leave the windows open. The property was a little difficult to locate. I suggest better signage but it wasn’t a big deal. Other than that, a wonderful time!

Pleasant Mid-Fall Stay

The cottage is located on a point on the periphery of a permanent-stay RV campground, but it is separate from the campground. After Oct. 10, the campground was closing up for the winter, so our stay was quiet. I expect it would be different in the summer. Not bad, just more activity in the campground as well as the whole area. The location is about a half mile or so off the main road, and continuing past there is a large marina and community of seasonal and year-round homes. Easy walking, and it seems a popular walking route, as we saw several people doing so each morning. The clean kitchen is well stocked with kitchen gear and appliances, so much so that there almost isn't room for it all. No place for groceries, and compact area for food prep. We expanded the table to its full length and turned it around, which worked out well for our food stuff. Living room is spacious but sparse, though adequate. The main queen bed and bedding were comfortable. The space itself is tight, with not much room for bags or to hang things. The second room with a bunk was not made up, and seemed to be more of a storage area at this point in the season. However, if spiffed up, would be an adequate second room. Bathroom was fine. Clean shower. Good towels. Deck overlooks the lake. Some pruning and trimming is in order to have a better view. About two stories worth of wood steps down to the dock and a little beach. Good: ducks and heron are nice to watch. Bad: They poop on the dock a lot. The village has a small full-service grocery for essentials, and there are places for pizza/subs/burgers for quick food. It's otherwise a low-key area. But for the curious and adventurous there are interesting eateries and sites within 20 minutes. Though the east side of Cayuga Lake has wineries (and we enjoyed the two in this town), the mother lode is on the west side. Recommend all of the well-kept state parks, primarily located near Ithaca, south end of Seneca Lake, and also Filmore SP, on south end of Owasco Lake. Cottage summary: Would stay again. Owner was pleasant, helpful and available nearby if needed (but didn't!). Recommend more thorough vacuuming to stay on top of cobwebs that are behind things and in corners, and also dog hair perhaps left from previous guests. Hooks near main door and in BR would be useful.

Hi Laurie, thanks for taking the time to write your review about your stay at my cottage on Cayuga Lake. You were the last guest to stay at my place and the marina/Rv property is closing down also at this time. I will say even in the high summer months, the RV owners come in at different weekends, very quiet and are easy neighbors to have. My acre property offers plenty of space for cars, boat trailers and places for guest to play and explore along the beach, collecting shells washed up by the lake. The second bedroom has a large clothes rack to hang clothes . I am purchasing a mobile microwave type cart that can hold groceries on a lower shelf and a food prep upper counter for added storage. This lake property has incredible sunsets and a wonderful place for families to enjoy the easy access walk-in to the lake. We are less than a half mile to Wheel House restaurant in Hibiscus Harbor ,I give my contact to all guest, live less than a half mile away and love to help with any questions or needs. I'm happy you received your belongings that I mailed back. Have a great winter in Mass.

Beautiful view

The kitchen is fully furnished with dishes/pots, etc, but there was no place to put groceries or items we brought from home to cook. No place to put things in the bathrooms. The wifi router is in another cabin so when it went out, we couldn't do anything about it. Midge was quick to fix it though--no problem. The cabin is clean, pleasant, and the view wonderful. It's on a hill though, so take that into consideration for young children.
