After a 10-year history of renting homes, I’ve never written a poor review until now. Unhinged is the best word to describe my experience with the host of this property, Shawn Gannon. From his defensive and argumentative attitude towards an amenities request, which then precipitated his demand to meet me in the garage of his rental property the next day to demand an apology, which then precipitated a 5-minute rampage on the phone to spew totally irrelevant issues concerning the rental (on the day of my son’s wedding), which then precipitated his entering the rental property unannounced with the houseguests present, which then precipitated his yelling at one of them with a pointed finger, to finally his overall obsession with guest thievery…. Shawn’s actions and words were extremely over-the-top and inappropriate. Whether you chalk it up to a host having a bad day or a host with poor anger management skills, either way it is no excuse for a host to treat his guests in this manner.
Ironically, Rule #1 of the Mountain View Guest House: Rental Rules states: “We request that you treat our home respectfully”. Mr. Gannon needs to heed some of his own advice and conversely treat his guests respectfully as well, a basic expectation of guests spending over $1100.00 per night. Due to my disturbing experience with the host, I wouldn’t recommend and would highly discourage the rental of this property. Should you choose to do so anyway, I’d advise you not to question the towel count.
