Excellent property supplied with all that was required for our daily needs. Perfect location for North and South side. off road parking was an added bonus.

We loved our stay at Gowland Cottage!! We spent three weeks on holiday and it really felt like a home from home. We had a few questions at the start of the stay and all were answered within minutes by Kate. The house is in a quiet location in the old town and having a private drive makes life a lot easier. Very rare to find a holiday home you actually enjoy spending lots of time in and isn’t just a base but we really did enjoy our lazy mornings or cosys nights at Gowland cottage. Would really recommend!! Also a really nice little touch to have a welcome basket with some goodies for our stay.

Great Cottage

Stayed in this great cottage with friends for 3 nights. It’s full of character, cosy, very comfortable , very well equipped, in a great location and has the added bonus of parking for 2 cars. The welcome basket is a nice touch, and the info re the history of the cottage was interesting.I would definitely recommend this cottage

Great seaside property

The cottage was ideally placed for going to the beaches, the market and most things in Scarborough. We stayed there with 2 adults, 2 17 year olds and 1 dog, the size of the property was perfect, we visited both beaches in Scarborough and the one in Filey which were all great.the teens went to York and Whitby for the day and went to the water park and had a great time, we found a couple of great local restaurants the plough in Scalby and Licorella in Scarborough. We had a lovely few days

Great stay in a cosy cottage

It is a really cute cottage. We enjoyed to stay for a week. It was very clean. We used the well equipped kitchen every evening. Nice beds. The children liked the television with Netflix The cottage is located in the middle of the town, 10 minutes walk to the beaches. Kate was always reacting in time. We had a great stay in Scarborough.

Lovely cottage

We really loved staying at this lovely cosy cottage, had everything you could possibly need, very comfy beds, loved the spacious attic bedroom. Great parking at the back of the property. Kate the owner kept in touch and left a lovely basket of goodies for us, which was so nice. Walking distance to the beach and activities. Would definitely recommend 😊

A little gem

What a lovely place to stay .small on the outside but very spacious and charming on the inside .all furnishings and bedding and towels are of a high standard very clean and welcoming. The garden and parking a bonus . In a great location for all things ,beach ,castle and shopping only a short walk away. A lot of thought has been put into the cottage ,it literally has everything you could want and more. I would defiantly recommend this cottage to any one .

Home from home

If you are unsure about booking. Then don't be. The cottage is exceptionally well looked after and wants for nothing. Comfortable and well appointed within the town with parking for 2 cars an absolute bonus. Kate thank you for letting us stay at your lovely property and for answering promptly all my questions.

Perfect relaxing get away.

We had a lovely time staying at Gowland cottage. We travelled from Cambridgeshire and the others came from Scotland so it was a half way point for us. It was a perfect location close to the Castle and a brilliant play area for the children with very easy access to the North beach and close to the Market for lovely food! The house is interesting with a great history and is very well equipped with everything you could need even for six people. The little garden was a perfect spot for the Prosecco! Kate was excellent in dealing with our queries and always replied very promptly. All in all we had a lovely time.

FABULOUS HOLIDAY COTTAGE

The accommodation is so perfect that we will be booking again next year. First class accommodation with every comfort and appliances in luxury home. The cottage is super clean and spacious. The situation is second to none. It is just on the edge of the busy shopping streets but in a quiet area. I have also made friend with the neighbours which shows it is a family and safe area. There is a garden which is lovely for an al fresco drink and for the children. The parking for at least 2 or 3 cars is very unusual for the centre of Scarborough and make all the difference for loading and unloading. It is the best holiday cottage we have stayed in. The owner's response was prompt for any enquiries we had. The directions and explanation for entry and leaving were clear so no problems whatsoever. I thoroughly recommend this cottage.

Had a lovely few days at the cottage. Equipped with everything you need and very clean. Good communication with owner very helpful parking space a god send due to the narrow streets and limited parking. Only one little problem I have a bad knee and found the stairs hard work but should have realised by the age of the cottage but still had a good holiday

Lovely stay in a quaint old cottage with all mod cons!

We had a great week at Gowland Cottage. Brilliant location for both North and South Bays. Equipped with everything we needed. Good wifi. Everything to hand. The stairs are steep both in the house and in the back garden but that's Scarborough!

Lovely cottage in a good location

From the time of booking onwards all communications with Kate have been very friendly, accommodating and prompt. The cottage itself is attractive and comfortable in a good location with easy access to the main areas of Scarborough. It contains everything you could possibly need to have a relaxing week and certainly is home from home. The little courtyard garden is a great bonus especially on those sunny afternoons, and it is a delight watching the many birds making their daily visits from the kitchen window. The car park is also a valuable addition as parking seems to at a premium in this corner of town. I would thoroughly recommend staying at Gowland Cottage

Great accommodation with all amenities and easy access to beaches. It had excellent COVID planning and welcome basket was well provisioned and thoughtful. Throughly recommend Gowland cottage as a base to explore the NE coast.

Lovely house in a great location

We had a great time at Gowland Cottage. It is close to both beaches, the castle and the best shops and restaurants. The check in was flawless and it had spacious private parking. Great start to our holiday.

I'm an enthusiastic traveller and host and enjoy extending a warm, inclusive, welcome to all. I aim to provide a comfortable and beautiful holiday home from which you can explore the Old Town and surrounds. Somewhere to relax and enjoy when you return from your daily adventures. My aim is to create a unique, interesting and beautiful space - a place where you can relax, unwind and enjoy your hard-earned break. Our aim is for you to LOVE your stay - prepare to fall in love, with Scarborough and most of all, Gowland Cottage!

Gowland Cottage combines historic character with modern comfort in the heart of the Old Town. Only a short walk from most of Scarborough's visitor attractions, restaurants, shops and bars, but a quiet haven in which to relax. A sheltered, enclosed patio garden provides a place to enjoy your coffee and absorb the sun and sounds of the seaside. We found the cottage in 2002 and have enjoyed many wonderful family holidays there. Our family are grown now, but the next stage of our journey has begun! Grandchildren are now beginning to create wonderful memories in Scarborough and Gowland Cottage. And you can too!

We call Gowland Cottage the Tardis. Small and perfectly formed on the outside, Grade II listed, Gowland Cottage retains the character of an 18th century fishing cottage, whilst enjoying the comforts of modern living. Tollergate is in the heart of Scarborough's Old Town, just beneath St. Mary's Church where Anne Bronte is buried, and ten minutes' walk from Scarborough Castle. So many of Scarborough, 'Queen of Resorts' delights are a short walk from the cottage. We have researched the people who have lived in the cottage and put together a social history of it's inhabitants, so guests can enjoy the history of the cottage. Gowland Cottage has private, enclosed parking for two cars (unusual in the Old Town) and a sheltered, patio garden where you can enjoy the sounds of the seaside and a morning coffee. The attic bedroom is a true haven of peace, somewhere you retreat at the end of your day to recharge your batteries. The twin room has a restful, countryside theme and the single room has a distinct nod to the fishing history of Scarborough. The cottage is packed with interesting pictures and artefacts of Scarborough's fishing heritage. You will be warmly welcomed at Gowland Cottage. We haven't forgotten the practical things though - fast fibre broadband, Netflix, Prime, catch up tv and Alexa Echo for your media fix. There is an espresso coffee machine and fully equipped kitchen, with washer, dryer and most importantly, dishwasher - who wants to wash up on holiday? We have a fold out desk if you're juggling Zoom calls with your holiday and lots of reading material, if you get the time. We have tried to remember all the little things you might forget in your dash to get away from it all. Relax, enjoy and breathe...
