Lugano Lakehouse
Unfortunately I have to give a mixed review of our stay at Valsolda as the pictures do not meet the reality.
Pros:
Good check-in process
Good lake access to drop SUP's and Windsurfing boards
Boat rental 5 minute walk away
City of Perlozza very close with a great windsurfing school for kids and nice little restaurants.
Close access to supermarket in Perlozza
Excellent mattresses, likely the best I had in a vacation home.
Nice restaurant across the street
Cons:
The house is right on the main street, expected for a lake house on an italian lake but there is no parking as the lot is disputed with a condominum house next door, within 5 minutes we were told to leave. The public parking is 50meters away but oftentimes completely full due to the restaurant and one day I waited 30 minutes for a spot and the walk to the public parking is dangerous if traveling with small kids.
The deck is falling apart, the house has many cosmetic defects and it badly needs TLC by a gardener.
One bedroom is shared with another, ok with family, romantic couples beware.
The biggest negative is the advertised Wifi. If all you do is check your email and dont mind waiting 5 minutes for your mails to load - great. I was reminded of my dialup internet connection in 1993. Also only middle eastern TV channels so we missed out on Wimbeldon and the EURO's.
Finally cleanliness is not superb.
The house is a mixed bag, If management could fix the cosmetic defects, Wifi for those of us who have to still get work done while vacationing and restore the deck this can be a great place.
