My Wife and I loved this spacious cottage set on a banana plantation. With local markets and hyper market, it was easy to self cater, and had the option with some lovely restaurants within a short walk away. The only downside is if you have a rental car, the property entrance is very narrow so nothing bigger than Citroen C3 type vehicle will fit.

Magical Madeira

Exceptional experience! An oasis in Funchal! Lovely grounds, exceptionally clean and quiet. Fantastic location from which to walk to all attractions. Host is warm, attentive and knowledgeable. If renting a car, be sure it's a small one as gate is narrow and entry to property is just off the busy roundabout.

An idyllic stay

We had a wonderful stay in Loja Lenha. We had a very warm welcome from Donna Elizabeth, the cottage was beautifully furnished and the bed was extremely comfortable. The garden was idyllic. We thoroughly recommend this property. We had some excellent tour guides and saw a lot of this beautiful island with its many contrasting areas.

An oasis of calm in Funchal

A well-equipped and comfortable property, set in beautiful grounds. Excellent care from the owners. Definitely a place to return to, but we would hire an even smaller car next time as the entrance is tight.

Lovely holiday

The cottage was a delight and larger than it appears in the listing. Located in a banana grove in the heart of the suburbs, it has a wonderful mix of the rural but still near and accessible to all the amenities. We were there during the shoulder season so it was a bit rainy yet warm and very pleasant. We enjoyed the cottage, the location and the Owner was most pleasant and helpful. Pay attention to the advice and get a small car to go through the gate (and parking is tight in Funchal).

Beautiful property/ ideal location

Delighted with the property, facilities and location. We will definitely be back. Madeira weather is superb at this time of year. 23c and sun this morning in Funchal as we sadly head back to freezing fog and ice in Ireland

We had a great holiday staying at Qunita Stamford Vista cottages set in a banana plantation. It was relatively peaceful except the noise from a private party on a Saturday night from the hotel over the road.

Quiet and blissful.....

We enjoy the quiet and privacy of Loja de Lena and have stayed there several times. It is set in a beautiful plantation near to the main manor house. 25 min walk into the centre of Funchal or a few minutes by bus. About a 10 minute walk from the unmissable Reid's Hotel ! There is a lovely swimming pool/ sitting area. The property is well equipped, comfortable and attractive. The king sized bed is firm and very comfortable. There are two other gite type properties adjoining. We have always found our neighbours to be quiet and courteous. The owners live in the main house and are warm and helpful. So if you want a quiet relaxing environment in beautiful grounds and within walking distance of Funchal old town and plenty of good eateries........ .

Tolles Cottage in einer wundervollen Anlage

Wir haben den Aufenthalt in dieser Unterkunft sehr genossen. Schöner kann man eigentlich gar nicht wohnen. Es war gemütlich, großzügig, toll eingerichtet und es hat an nichts gefehlt. Die ganze Anlage war toll mit Bananenplantage, super schöner Poolanlage die wir die ganze Woche allein genutzt haben.Die Vermieterin war sehr nett und jederzeit erreichbar. Supermärkte, Bäcker etc. waren in unmittelbarer Nähe. Der Hafen ist ca. 20 Minuten fußläufig erreichbar. Alles machbar, man ist auf ein Auto nicht unbedingt angewiesen. Wir können diese Unterkunft nur wärmstens weiter empfehlen.

Superb environment set in beautiful grounds

We stayed for most of May at Loja da Lenha. . Until this year we have stayed at a good Hotel but decided to try somewhere else. It was brilliant. Well equipped, comfortable, spotless and with firm mattresses on the beds. Frank and Buffy are very welcoming. The location is ideal - one really can walk into Funchal and it is near the Ferry Terminal for Porto Santo Island ( a great place to visit), Reids Palace Hotel ( fantastic for afternoon tea) and a range of grocery/coffee shops. All the couples we met seemed like us to like peace and quiet. The pool is very good and I swam most days. If one wants to go to Church - Penha de Franca RC Church ( 20 minute walk) has a service every Sunday at 10.30 in English and its full. The priest is remarkable and welcomes all religions ( we are Methodists). We think it was a super experience and quite a 'find' - Surrey UK couple.

Eine Idylle in der Stadt

Die Kommentare zur Unterkunft "Loja de Lenha" können wir nur bestätigen, es ist nichts hinzuzufügen. Es ist eine Idylle inmitten der interessanten und lebendigen Hauptstadt, in der man sich sofort wohl fühlt. Unser Urlaub war eine wunderbare Kombination aus Erkunden der Insel, Wandern, Bummeln in Funchal, Essen in netten Restaurants ... - und Entspannen in unserem wunderbaren Quartier. Hier konnte man so richtig "die Seele baumeln lassen". Danke an Buffy und Frank für ihre freundliche Aufnahme, viele Tipps und interessante Gespräche!

A Special Place

A little bit of old Funchal within easy reach of the town centre and close to restaurants and bars. We loved Loja da Lenha and are recommending it to our friends. The accommodation is extremely well appointed, very comfortable, and it’s on a banana farm --- perfect.

Superb

We have just returned from a wonderful holiday on the lovely island of Madeira. Our accommodation at Loja Da Lenha more than met our expectations. It is of very high standard furnished very tastefully and well maintained, everything you would need. The setting is very tranquil surrounded by banana trees and vines, a lovely swimming pool and very friendly and helpful owners. The properties are centrally situated in Funchal with shops and good restaurants within a short walk.

Wunderschöne Unterkunft

Wir waren zum ersten Mal auf Madeira und sind glücklich, diese Unterkunft gefunden zu haben. Eine Oase mitten in der Stadt. Bei geöffnetem Fenster (mit Fliegengitter und Blendläden) wird man morgens vom Vogelgezwitscher geweckt. Nur im Hintergrund sind lese Straßengeräusche zu hören. Das Appartement ist geschmackvoll eingerichtet und mit allem ausgestattet, was man braucht; Bücher, sehr gute Küchenausstattung, zusätzliche Kopfkissen und Decken, Infomaterial etc... Der Außensitzplatz direkt vor dem Haus ist gemütlich und der Pool traumhaft. Besser geht es nicht! Buffy, thanks a lot. It was beautiful

This is a fantastic place to stay, truly 5 star! Buffy welcomed us for our one week stay with fresh fruit and Madeira wine and a quick tour of this beautiful apartment. The apartment is spacious, very clean and well appointed the kitchen has all mod-cons with plenty of space to eat. We were impressed with the peace and quiet, the secure parking and the super pool. We will definitely visit again. PS. be prepared for mosquitoes in the evening P&F from Cornwall

Magical place!

This was the most beautiful apartment we have ever stayed in! The host was friendly, the cab driver was friendly. When you walk through the gate you find yourself surrounded by banana & grape plants. It's like walking into paradise! There was a nice pool where you can swim in. And then the apartment, nicely decorated. Everything is clean and proper. We had a really nice time in Madeira. Only thing less positive was the fact that you had to climb up an hill to get to the apartment. For us not a problem, but worth mentioning. Highly recommended! Greetings the Dutch people.

Thank you, it was an extraordinary time we spent in the cottage. The flat is extremely well equipped, comfortable and clean. Situated in the middle of bananas and other exotic plants, entering the site means to enter a paradise. It is a quiet place - but in the middle of the town. A lot of restaurants around or in a fairly short walking distance. We had no car but used public transport which is very cheap. But it takes some time to find out how it works! We can recommed the cottage(s) it to all who want to enjoy a challenging holiday - to experience an interesting city with culture, gardens, shops etc, the chance to relax in the house garden with the pool and go out for walking tours on the island. Sorry - I can't find anything negative! Ein wunderbares Feriendomizil, sehr gut ausgesattet aber dennoch zentral in Funchal gelegen. Wie im Paradies, ruhig mit herrlicher Vegetation aber mit den vielfältigen Möglichkeiten einer Stadt - gleichzeitig ein guter Ausgangspunkt für Wanderungen. Für alle die, die nicht "pauschal" reisen wollen!

Choose This Gem Over a Souless Hotel

My husband and I recently spent a very relaxing week in Loja Da Lenha. The apartment has many positives – it’s spacious, clean, modern, tastefully decorated and well-equipped. The owners are also very nice and friendly. The property's greatest strength has to be its location – the apartment is surrounded by a small banana plantation which contributes to the tropical feel of the place. We especially took delight in picking the ripe fruit for our breakfast each morning! There is a small table and chairs on the lawn outside the apartment which is perfect for enjoying the outdoor area (especially at meal times). The large and well maintained pool is also a great bonus. Whilst the apartment sits in tranquil and in luscious surrounds, it is extremely well located – the centre of town and its restaurants are accessible by foot. I would recommend this apartment to any couple who wishes to spend a relaxing week in Madeira somewhere comfortable, well located and with a bit of character.
