I got a great deal on this apartment, which adds a star to my review because I do believe that you get what you pay for.
Overall, I agree with the positives in other reviews. The bed was fantastic and the sheets were super high quality. Location and parking were great. We lived in Austin for many years and we definitely think this area is best for restaurants, highway access, and avoiding traffic (which can be terrible in other parts of town). The neighbors were quiet and while someone made the building reek of weed, it seems like that can’t really be avoided anywhere these days.
However, this apartment has seen better days. The entire place had an old, stale smell to it, which also permeated the towels in the bathroom. Even my husband was bothered by this, and smells don’t typically bother him. Since no one else mentioned this and it was so pronounced during our stay, I’m wondering if it was the heating system (likely not used much) was the culprit? It also sounds like issues other people have experienced still haven’t been fixed (lights being out, dishwasher challenges), and things like walls and blinds were dirty, and furniture, walls, and dishes were chipped. I was grateful that I brought slippers to wear, as the floor was dirty when we arrived and I noticed that my slippers and my husband’s socks were dirty upon checkout. The garbage disposal also wasn’t working, but I informed the host and hopefully it will be fixed before the next guest.
Again, overall a good stay for what I paid, but due mostly to the stale smell I will likely stay elsewhere next time.
