Great stay

We loved our stay in the quaint village of Ilpendum. Brenda and Michael were kind and gracious hosts, who gave us great tips on sightseeing, and even brought us fresh fruit as a gift one day. The town has easy access to Amsterdam and there are lovely places to walk and bike in around the village.

Amazing stay!

For us this was a long weekend away. We loved the location of the property. Just a short bus ride from Amsterdam, but located in a beautiful little village with a shop, cafe/bar. The property was very comfortable, stylish and had everything we needed. We chose to have a day away from the wonderful city and hired a boat for the day from our location. It was absolutely perfect for us all and our teenagers loved the whole experience too. Thanks to Michael and Brenda for being wonderful hosts. We had a brilliant time.

Cute little holiday base

We really enjoyed our stay. The owner was very friendly and the accommodation was cosy but well thought out. The village was quiet and the buses very regular into Amsterdam. The only downside was that it appears to be holiday accommodation next door too. Unfortunately for us there seemed to be a group of lads staying there. The first time we heard them, we were all in bed and were woken up. We thought people were actually in our accommodation as it was very loud. Having got up to check, we thought they were on the roof! It sounded like fighting at first. Finally we realised it was just that the walls are paper thin and the lads were above us as well as joined on next door. There are only net curtains, so you are on full show to anyone walking by when you are downstairs. However owner has kept the property to a good standard and I would recommend.

Es war alles wie beschrieben und die Wohnung war perfekt ausgestattet. Nur den Eingang das 1. Mal zu finden könnte besser beschrieben sein. Aber das war es auch schon mit kritik

Die Ferienwohnung war bezaubernd und liebevoll eingerichtet. Die "Schrankbetten" im Obergeschoss waren sehr bequem und gemütlich. Im Bad oben fehlten uns Haken um die Handtücher aufhängen zu können, doch sonst war auch das Bad praktisch ausgestattet.Die untere Etage hatte ein schönes Wohnzimmer mit Leinwand und Beamer, was dem Teenie sehr gut gefallen hat. Auch in der Küche fehlte es an nichts, so eine gute Küchenausstattung hatten wir noch in keiner Ferienwohnung. Für längere Aufenthalte fehlte uns ein Schrank für die Klamotten, doch das ist vermutlich platztechnisch nicht möglich. Die Gastgeber waren sehr freudlich und bei Anreise fanden wir im Kühlschrank leckere Schokolade zur Begrüßung. An manchen Tagen gab es etwas Fluglärm, doch es hielt sich in Grenzen und war auch nicht täglich. Die Umgebung ist wirklich ausgesprochen schön, die Menschen allgemein sehr freundlich und man kann alles bequem mit dem Fahrrad erkunden, sogar bis Amsterdam, das sind grad mal 30 min Fahrt. Wir kommen hoffentlich wieder.

Hi! We are Michael and Brenda. Recently married, we love to enterprise and very fond of exploring. We have 2 boys Thorsten & Owen, 2 Beagles Oliver & James, a pack of chickens and geese and hope to add some deer to our family soon. Michael has a contracting company called TNS (Tile and Natural Stone specialist) and Brenda works at Jean Mineur Mediavision as a marketing manager in cinema advertising. Together we also run a boat rental company called Boot Verhuur Waterland. If you want to spend a wonderful day on our famous waters, rent a boat with a 50% discount when you stay with us!

Ilpendam is a picturesque village near Amsterdam and the last stop of the Amsterdam Wedlands. Time really slows down when you’re staying here. Neighbouring villages like Monnickendam, Volendam, Edam and Marken make it the perfect base for cultural or nature-oriented trips. Ilpendam originated in the 12th century, when a dam was placed in the river De Ilp. With its 1,845 inhabitants, two churches, small village shop and the café on the village square, it has a rich history. A popular inhabitant was Frans Banninck Cocq, the 17th-century mayor of Amsterdam, lawyer and lord of the castle of Huis Ilpenstein, Lord of Purmerlant and Ilpendam. Most commonly known as the distinguished gentleman in black at the front of the painting 'De Nachtwacht / The Night Watch' by Rembrandt. From Ilpendam, your oasis of peace, you can discover the beautiful Wedland area or visit the bustling surrounding cities. Every 5 minutes the bus goes to Amsterdam, which takes you to the centre in 10 minutes.
