Needs upgrade & upkeep

Overall my experience at the house was not bad, however the house needs some upgrading & upkeep. 1. We had to keep towels under the refrigerator to prevent puddles of water from forming on the floor. 2. Linen was very old. We purchased linen from Walmart. 3. Back yard was not inviting 4. Fly infestation within the house. Property needs spraying to prevent flies from entering the house.

Owner did not communicate AT ALL

The overall rating of 1 star is due to the owner not communicating with our group at all. I texted, called and emailed the guest contact with NO RESPONSE to any of the messages, completely unacceptable. We were hurricane evacuees so we didn't really have a choice but the complete lack of communication made everything more stressful. The house was tidy but not clean. There were numerous dead bugs in many places. The downstairs bathroom reeked of stale urine. The bathroom tub surround tile had mold and mildew in the grout. Cobwebs in the kitchen. Broken glass in the driveway and cigarette butts in the back yard. Sofa in the den with the TV was torn and had stuffing and springs exposed. The "value" pricing was deceptive as there was a significant "host fee" tacked on at the end. Other than these problems the house is a generous size in a quiet suburban neighborhood with a convenient grocery store close by.

Outdated and Stale

This was a last minute booking and the pictures don’t do this place any justice as to what you’re walking into. Upon arrival to this home we were not able to get in easily, The instructions weren’t provided until 7 PM three hours after our arrival luckily we used our brains and got in. The Décor of this home is terrible! Extremely creepy, outdated and uncomfortable. Complete with tapestries, extremely old paintings and cobwebs and dust. There is a separate home connected to this home with several of the doors locked from the other side which made me feel extremely uncomfortable. There were large roaches crawling on the walls one night two to be exact. The bedsheets are not clean they have been there since like 1920. The smell of this home is so stale they literally need to throw all of their furniture in the trash and replace it no one could ever feel comfortable in here unless you already have this kind of furniture(extremely old). Now I know I’m describing it kind of goofy but I am serious when I tell you I did not like this home at all. Although it is huge it has like six or seven bedrooms and I was with a party of six we were so scared that we grouped up together in threes and slept in two bedrooms. There are no up-to-date electronics so we had no TV the entire time we were there it was so boring to be in the house and although I didn’t come on vacation to be in the house I was not comfortable at all at any moment I was there. Also the toilet flooded while we were sleeping. I feel like I got ripped off because the person Obviously company all the money and does no upkeep or cleaning. It’s really sad because I worked really hard for that money.

Big, Family Home

We liked staying at this house when we all came in from different parts of the country for a memorial service. Some of the local family came by and it was nice to have the space, and sitting areas, the big kitchen and 2 ovens. We were able to walk to Kroger’s and get groceries. The house is old, big, not fancy, but not gauche either, and has a few old-house characteristics , but over all is well appointed with almost everything you need. We had to buy toilet paper, and never did hear back from the local contact person, but neither of those was a big deal. the location seemed to be about 20 minutes from wherever we needed to be, and the Shelby farms is a place I’d like to go back to explore.

Great for family get together!

This property suited our needs well! We had two families with a total of 5 children ranging from 1 to 8 years old plus a set of grandparents. Room arrangements made it so every family had their own bathroom. The layout of the house made it easy to do things with all 11 of us together, the kids and parents separately, and still had enough room for everyone to have their own space when they needed it.

Disappointed

We were unable to stay at this property, we were called 30 hours before check-in and the property owners cancelled our reservaion. I would just like to express the frustration, anxiety, and inconvenience that this caused. I received a phone call at 9:30 11/24, stating that the owners decided that they wanted to use their property instead of honoring the agreed contract that was placed on the property through Evolve on June 8th, 2020. With family coming from 2 other states, it was important to me to book a place big enough to house all the guests, with amenities such as pet friendly and a big yard for outdoor activities because of the small children that would be with us. This rental fit all of our needs and to have it basically ripped from us with less than 30 hours notice was a bit devastating for me. I was in shock and awe for the first few hours of getting this horrible news and was unable to think straight as to how we were going to be able to rearrange such a trip within such a short timeframe. When you plan a trip such as this, everyone has to make arrangements to take off work, travel arrangements, and there was no way we could change any of that because of the short notice. We were able to find accommodations, however, since we had planned on driving, it added an additional 2 hours and added 189 miles to the trip. The new booking added an additional $363.17 for the rental. In addition, my son was unable to bring his pet and instead had to travel back and forth to take care of them because, again, with such short notice he was unable to make accommodations for boarding. we were unable to change any plans because everyone had already made travel arrangments and taken off time for work.

Great size for our needs. Beautiful neighborhood. House fell far short of our expectation. May lights not working - burned out lightbulbs, including both front and back outdoors. Our cars were left in the dark. No bathroom electric outlets works. Yard not mowed and dog poop in front meant our toddler grandkids couldn't play on the lawn. House was not sufficiently cleaned. AC was turned OFF when we arrived with indoor temperature at 88F, still 79 seven hours later. Finally cooled down in the middle of the night. Several beds uncomfortable. House is very "tired". We will NOT return to this property.

Could have been better

Online listing said one car garage parking however the whole garage was full of furniture. The bathrooms were not very clean, we had to re-clean. No problem with check-in. There was no need to contact property manager.
