Such a lovely place, been before and would have loved to continue to come. Love that we are able to have our small doggie with and have the beach so close, lots of character and all you need for a relaxing beach holiday.

Clean room, really cool decor, great location right by the beach. We found that the wifi didn't work unfortunately and limited phone reception but otherwise a perfect stay!

We loved our stay at Red House, it was very clean and tidy, enjoyed all the comforts and the quirky upcycled design features. A real novelty to be so close to train tracks. The sun was shining and the beach access was right at the front door, thank you for letting us stay at your piece of NZ coastal paradise

Gorgeous property

The wee house is beautiful - the decor is eclectic and I loved it! The outdoor area was perfect and I can imagine in the summer it would be even better !! Loved that we could have our deputy dawgs with us - they loved that beach !!!

A wonderful stay with nature at our door

We wanted a get-away that allowed us to have our dog inside with us, provided solitude, ocean views, beach walks and no crowds. This place is wonderful! Yes, it’s on the main road and yes, it has the train track about 5 metres from the deck… but neither caused us any concerns - and the train is so infrequent it barely matters (and it’s quite a novelty!).No oven or microwave, but a great 5-burner gas hob and benchtop griller suffices well. Double glazed, insulated, an amazing woodburner … all makes for a very comfy stay in this modern, cute, casual and charming ‘cottage’. A great place to bring a book (or two) a bottle of wine - and I suggest book an extra day or two, as you just won’t want to leave!

Magic mangamauna

Incredible location right across the train track from the beach. The Red House is delightful - thoughtfully built with pieces of history recovered from a bowling club destroyed in the Christchurch earthquake, then restored and renewed with a careful eye. It was a treat to stay here for two nights with the family.

The recycled decor was beautifully done..outdoor area also was great and we enjoyed seeing the train whizz past..exciting. Definitely would love to go again.

Beachfront house near Kaikoura

We loved the quirky decor of the Red House. The location gave easy access to town and the highlights of Kaikoura as well as the isolation of the beach. 3 trains a day passed directly by the front deck but that was a bonus. A great place to stay.

Red House 10/10

We absolutely loved the Red House! Been in NZ for two months and have been continuously amazed, and the Red House was another superb stop. We loved the trains going by! We loved the space (fully opening folding windowed-doors), gorgeous decor and comfortable bed from which we could watch the sun rise when inclined! We’re very lucky to have pods of dolphins playing for hours just off shore each morning. Easy drive into town. Highly recommend. (She does ask you to bring your own linens and we had to source those as we came from out of NZ. Easily done and worth it and now we are using them for simplicity at other stays.) An easy 10/10!

Lovely Bach by the sea

This is a great out of the way place to stay. It’s only 12 minutes out of Kaikoura and so close to the sea. Altogether a very comfortable place to watch the world go by. The owners are very accommodating and we enjoyed ourselves along with the two dogs.Our only issue was with the microwave and the internet. We thoroughly recommend it and the beautiful spot.

Nice spot.

Unfortunately we had power issues that had to be rectified by consulting with the neighbouring property as that is where the power is supplied from. Bathroom was a bit dirty. Windows requested to be cleaned but they already had marks on them. Without power problems this would be a 4 star review.
