My only real criticism of this property is essentially a cautionary one. It concerns the unusual step spanning across the entire junction space between the living room and the kitchen. It is most counterintuitive to have to step (15cm or so, in fact) down from the living area as required here, and it is easy at first to forget to do so at first. I stumbled several times, as did my partner. I could see the structural reasons for the step because of the need for the kitchen ceiling and roofline to follow that of the original dwelling to which the kitchen has surely been added. A warning to watch this unusual step is nevertheless warranted.
Otherwise, this is a pleasant, fairly well appointed, property and one we would rent again for a weekend in Kaikoura .
