My husband and I are local to the area but we booked this property because we had family coming to town and weren’t able to accommodate them ourselves. The rental was okay, but the property could use some attention from the owners. The location was perfect, and the check-in process was easy. There were a some things we were not satisfied with:
1. There wasn’t any dish soap or laundry detergent despite the property having a full kitchen and washing machine and dryer. There also wasn’t any extra toilet paper, and only a few trash bags which we ran out of. I ended up running home to get toilet paper, trash bags, laundry detergent, and dish soap; but for someone that is visiting from out of town and not able to do that, they would need to go to the store to buy those things.
2. The wood deck is rotting because it doesn’t appear to be treated lumber. It’s a beautiful area, but we didn’t really feel comfortable using the space for that reason.
3. There were some items that were not well taken care of. Examples include: rusted beach chairs, rusted bike chains on the bikes, rusted can opener in the kitchen (made it very difficult to use), rust on washing machine (where softener is added), and a golfball size hole in the flooring downstairs between the bedroom and living room.
4. Kitchen Issues: There isn’t a garbage disposal which was inconvenient. The dishwasher’s heated dry did not work, and it was not bolted into the wall so the weight of the rack being pulled out would cause it to lean forward. The wine cooler did not work…temperature in the 70s and 80s.
5. The recycling bin was full when we arrived and remained full our entire stay. I believe this was because whenever the property owner/manager came to wheel them to the street, it was not facing the correct direction and therefore was not picked up.
Given the choice, we probably would not book this property again.
