We've booked this apartment several times and have always been very satisfied: very clean, well-equipped, ideal for two people, with a perfect host. While the apartment isn't located downtown, it has good bus connections and small shops nearby. We stayed here on an extended vacation so we could discover more of Vancouver. Location is great. It’s a quiet neighborhood but the city is close. We visited mostly parks and breweries while we were there. Shawn was kind and helpful, and we felt welcomed. 10/10

The property is super clean, perfectly appointed with everything we needed. The washer & dryer so nice complete with drying rack. Nice storage available. We felt safe walking in the neighborhood which is beautiful and the bus system is close and convenient. Owner and host was accommodating, full of useful information, attentive and very kind. Thank you for providing a lovely stay in Vancouver.

Very well equipped. I liked the full size fridge and the fact you could record programming on the TV. The only downside was the noise. Not from the neighbourhood, but from upstairs. Sounds carried very easily down to the suite. For example, it seemed like chairs moving (scraping?) across the floor upstairs was amplified to the suite and footsteps could be heard easily. Unfortunately on weekdays this started as early as 6:15am. Except for the noise the place was perfect. 4 out of 5.

Das Appartement im Suterain bei Chrystal und Shawn war die beste Unterkunft auf unserer Reise. Die Wohnung entsprach den Bildern und war vollumfänglich ausgestattet. Die Nachbarschaft war ruhig und ordentlich. Downtown und umliegende Stadtteile waren gut mit dem Bus erreichbar. Shaw stand uns jederzeit als Ansprechpartner zur Verfügung. Séjour absolument parfait!

C’est notre deuxième séjour chez Shawn&family. L’appartement est bien situé près de tout. À quelques minutes de UBC, de la plage et du VanDusen Garden. Des commerces tout près pour faire ses courses. On apprécie le calme du quartier. L’appartement est impeccable, confortable et bien équipé. Doté d’une lanceuse-sécheuse. Nous y retournerons dès que possible. A Great Place to Stay and a Fabulous Host. Our stay was from May 1-5, 2025.

From the time we booked the VRBO, Shawn was very welcoming and helpful. Shawn greeted us when we arrived. He answered many of our questions about the area and offered suggestions on places to see and places to eat.The VRBO itself is beautiful, clean, and comfortable. A lovely tin container of local chocolates awaits you upon arrival. The kitchen is equipped with ample dishes, cutlery, quality pots, small appliances, a dishwasher, a stove/oven, and a full-sized fridge. A variety of free streaming services were available on the TV. In addition, guests have their own protected outdoor sitting area with a little bistro table and chairs. This area is flanked by two ‘living walls’.The neighbourhood is beautiful and quiet. We enjoyed walking around and admiring the lovely gardens and interesting architecture. There are a few shops within a 3-minute walk. The bus service (a 3-minute walk) runs regularly to the north (downtown Vancouver) and southwest to a little neighbourhood on 41st Street called Kerrisdale, which has lots of shops and services.We would highly recommend Shawn’s VRBO, and we hope to stay there again someday. Thanks, Shawn, for facilitating to make our visit to Vancouver such a wonderful and memorable time.

Cherry blossom time

Very comfortable, clean, well equipped and in a beautiful and quiet neighbourhood. Great location for us visiting family. Nice little grocery store and 2 bakeries/cafés around the corner. The host, Shawn, was great. Would definitely stay here again.

Exceptional host and perfect place

We stayed for 10 days and the place had everything we needed. Shawn the host was very helpful and friendly and made sure that we have everything we need. The place is very comfortable and very clean. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need and had a nice sized freezer. The bed was comfortable. The location is very nice and the neighborhood is safe.

Family Wedding

The property was perfect for our 5 day stay. It had everything we needed and was very clean, comfortable, and cozy. Kitchen was fully equipped and loved the large fridge and washer and dryer. Everything was new and tastefully decorated. The neighborhood was beautiful and safe. Shawn was very accommodating and personable and even let us hang out with Jazzy, their cat. If we come back to Vancouver, we would stay again😊

Lovely Suite!

Everything you need in a comfortable basement suite. Shawn welcomed us and was available for any questions or requests. Very comfortable bed, large washer and dryer, bath/shower, private entrance and fully supplied kitchen - all located in a gorgeous neighborhood with two bakeries a block away!!
