Welcome to Shady Side Cottages at Crooked Lake. Crooked Lake is one of Indiana's best kept secret all sports lakes. Two completely renovated cottages located on one waterfront property on Crooked Lake Angola, Indiana. Enjoy amazing sunrises and sunsets from both cottages. Located close to the old Captain's Cabin. The upper cottage is 830 sq ft, and the lower cottage is 600 sq ft. Both have decks that have patio tables/chairs and each have spectacular views of Crooked Lake. Enjoy fishing from the dock or jumping off into the refreshing lake. The cottage comes with a paddle board kayaks, a fire pit, a tv in the upper and lower cottages along with wifi and internet tv and an assortment of games.
The upper cottage sleeps 6-7. It has two bedrooms (1 queen bed, 1 full bed) and a back porch converted for sleeping that has two twin beds and a pull out trundle with one twin bed. The living room includes a sectional sofa. There is one bathroom, one full kitchen, and a washer and dryer.
The lower cottage…. We call this the Kids Cottage or one family stays in the upper and the other family stays in the lower. It sleeps 8. The lower cottage has a small apartment size kitchen, a completely renovated full bathroom, two bedrooms (full size bunk bed and a queen bed in one bedroom & twin bed bunks in the second bedroom. There is a loft, but that is not considered designated sleeping space.
The cottages are conveniently located off of I-69 and I-80/90 toll road. We are located close to restaurants and activities which include Caruso's, Subway, Tanger Outlet, Ice cream shops, Pokagon State Park, Tom's Donuts and a variety of restaurants and stores in Angola, Indiana which is no more than a 5-10 minute drive.

Very nicely updated cottages. Early check-in was very nice. Paddle boards were fun! The upper cottage kitchen had mostly everything we needed. Our family of 9 had plenty of room and enjoyed a long weekend together.

Fun summer vacation cottages
Two cute cottages with ample room for adults and grandchildren. Swimming out front has easy access for all ages, with sandy lake bottom. All enjoyed the kayaks and paddle boards. Beds and furniture are comfy. Decks have beautiful lake views. Would definitely rent again!

Beautiful place to vacation at! The cottages are sweet and well kept. Lots of fun sport equipment for the lake fun. Lake very clean and swimable for kids right from the dock. Lovely views. Just wonderful overall. Owners were great and very accommodating to us. Just a blessing of a vacation spot. Thank you Julie!

Both cottages were very clean. The main cottage has a well stocked kitchen. We used the kayaks and the grill. The fire pit area is very nice with comfortable Adirondack chairs. Check-in was easy. Communication was great. We really enjoyed staying in this area. We recommend visiting Tom's Donuts and Scoops Ice Cream.

Perfect lake trip for our family! We loved staying at the cottages. They were well appointed, comfortable, and air conditioned. My wife appreciated all of the hooks to hang swim suits and clothes. The lake was amazing - super clean and clear. We loved the ability to have our boat at the house dock. Owner was extremely responsive. We look forward to coming back in the future.

Crooked Lake Cottages
We loved the cottages and they were perfect for our whole extended family that came together for the weekend. Clean, comfortable, beautifully decorated and perfect swimming area. Love how many outdoor chairs there were and the paddle boards and kayaks were great!

Wonderful for family retreat
Part of us stayed here and part at two other cabins but this was the best kitchen/living room and porch for eating and hanging out. It is a beautiful space and walking distance from the county beach we camped at as kids. Definitely all thumbs up!!

Beautiful location, upper cottage is nicely appointed for an older home. Lower cottage had multiple issues, broken items, window, and ladder to loft, dirty dishes in cupboard, minimal amenities including no heat. Parking suitable for cars not a truck.

Family Vacation
Amazing property with all of the amenities! All you need to bring is your suit and food to have a great time. The host is very responsive and accommodating. This place made for a nice vacation with multiple families and allowed individual space.

Family Summer Vacation
We really enjoyed our stay at Shady Side Cottages. The property was clean and perfect for a family Summer vacation. The kids loved the kayaks and paddle boards. Julie was easy to communicate with and very responsive.

Beautiful views! Darling cottages!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Shadyside cottages. We had a large group and there was plenty of places to sleep and hang out. Loved the easy access to the water, paddle boards and kayaks! We brought our own boat and the lake was fun for water skiing! The interior is absolutely adorable! Would love to go back next year!

Could not have been better!
What can I say but everything about this property was truly perfect for our family/group. Check in was easy. Place was clean. We had so much fun being out on the water and celebrating the birthdays with lots of birthday cake. Must do this again real soon.

Awesome Lake Cottages
We really enjoyed our stay. The cottages were nice and cozy. The lake was great. We enjoyed floating and swimming off the dock because the bottom was clear and sandy. The paddle boards and kayaks were so fun. We really enjoyed getting on those every day. We also ate our meals outside on the upper deck, which overlooked the water. Overall, I’d definitely recommend staying here.

Wonderful time on Crooked Lake!
These cottages are amazing for a large family! Two kitchens and dining areas, more than enough room for our group of 9! We rented a pontoon from a recommendation of the owner and enjoying every minute on the lake. Campfires, fun in the water, and beautiful sunsets! Our kids are already planning our trip back next year. Thank you!!

Wonderful stay!
We loved this property! We do an annual friends lake trip and even though each cottage was small it was very clean and had tons of sleeping spaces. We will say there is no central air in either cottages. The AC units kept the cottages pretty cool however in the upper cottage the kitchen was significantly hotter than the living which is where the AC unit was. With that being said the dock was awesome and the houses were very clean and smelled GREAT when we walked through the door. We would have probably preferred to all be in the same house but we booked it late and this was an excellent alternative! Also the host was very accommodating and responsive!

Wonderful Family Location
The check in process was super easy. There are 2 cottages which were both very clean and well maintained. We had 3 families with kids ages 1- 10 in our group. Everybody enjoyed the water, and there were plenty of water toys(kayaks, pedal boat etc) to keep everybody entertained. The views were wonderful and we couldn’t have been more pleased. We kept saying over and over “this place is so great”. We will be back!

Great location
We loved the location and private swim area.
A few improvements to be made:
- lots of ants on the upper cottage deck, constantly searching for food
- lots of bees outside, making eating on either deck or by the water nearly impossible. One of our 4 year olds was stung on the ear.
- large depression on the hill going down to the fire pit — one person severely twisted their ankle and took a nasty fall
Overall good and we hope to return again someday. Thank you!

Perfect weekend
The Shadyside cottages were perfect for our family/friend weekend getaway. We have rented multiple times with VRBO and this house so far has been the best stocked house we’ve stayed in. You literally need to just show up and enjoy yourself. We rented the cottages with another family. The adults had the upper cottage and the teenagers had the lower. Everyone had a blast. Julie was amazing to work with. Hopefully we can rent them again.
