No one enjoys packing their entire home to go on a family vacation, which is why we've designed Once Upon a Tide especially for families with little ones! Only 1 block from the pool, 4 blocks from the beach & overlooking a beautiful (fishable) lake - we have everything you need to enjoy a relaxing vacation with your family & friends. Our home features a stocked playroom, mini-cribs, blackout window treatments, high chairs, a booster seat & bouncer, safety gates, and so much more!

1st Floor: Playroom stocked with a train table, play kitchen + accessories, books, board games, floor & age-appropriate jigsaw puzzles, Nugget play couches, doll house + accessories, and more. There is also a storage closet with a wagon.

2nd Floor: Washer/Dryer. Bunk Room (master bedroom) with 2 full-over-full bunks and an ensuite bathroom (toilet & shower with handheld shower hose), 2 wardrobes and a closet. 2 King bedrooms with a shared full bathroom (toilet, shower/tub combo). King bedrooms both have dressers, closets, TVs and private access to balcony overlooking the lake. A mini crib is also available. The balcony has 6 Adirondack chairs with accent tables & 2 hammock chairs. All bedrooms have blackout window treatments.

3rd Floor: Master bedroom with a full ensuite bathroom (toilet & shower), mini crib, large walk-in closet, and blackout window treatments. A second Washer & Dryer are located in the master closet. Fully stocked kitchen with vaulted ceilings and adjacent dining room overlooking the lake. The dining table has seating for 10 & the bar has seating for 3. There are 2 high chairs & 1 booster seat available. The 3rd floor balcony also overlooks the lake and has a dining table with seating for 10. The cozy living room has a TV, an abundance of seating & board games for the whole family.

Outside: Parking for 5 vehicles, Tesla charging station (level 2 charger), charcoal grill, a digger toy for kids, an outdoor shower, rocking chairs, and a deck box filled with beach supplies, games, beach chairs, and a beach umbrella.

The entire home is setup with kids in mind. There are safety features throughout the home, age appropriate toys for children ages infant to ~10 y/o, games for the whole family, TV's with YoutubeTV + Apps, and more. A list of all children's amenities will be available prior to your stay.

We have one security camera on the front of the house, and one security camera on the back of the house. These devices will be on during your stay and are only used for security purposes. Private areas are not surveilled. Tampering with cameras is against our rules and will result in immediate eviction from the home.

Wonderful stay!

Not sure weā€™ve had a better experience in a weekend rental. The place was accommodating to our young children with a playroom and many outdoor toys and equipment as well. We brought our own beach stuff but rarely used it! In addition, the cleanliness of the home as well as the thoughtful decoration and labeling of items made us feel like home. We loved the location and we rented golf carts during our stay to just cruise around the neighborhood and go across the road to park at the beach. The area had many restaurant and take out choices, although we also cooked in the beautiful kitchen overlooking the bay. Canā€™t say enough good things about this situation, thanks again Rachel and family!

Family Friendly Perfection!

We loved every minute in this house. The owners have made sure that is it well stocked with all the essential kid equipment and yet thoughtfully streamlined ensuring we didn't need to hawk over the kids. The view and cross breeze were amazing. The house was spotless. We hope to come back again and again.

Great for kids!

This was the best place we've ever stayed in regard to children. Everything was supplied for kids and the playroom was phenomenal. They also loved the "beach" area. The home was almost spotless. The vent grate on the wall on the second floor was VERY dirty. Other than that, it was a perfect place for our family. We hope to stay there again.

OXB Family Holiday

Exceptional venue! Spacious, 4 good sized bedrooms with ensuite baths, kitchen fully outfitted, plenty of natural light, dinning for 10 on porch or inside, water view, close to ocean & inter-costal, quite neighborhood yet close to restaurants, shopping, etc. Home very clean upon our arrival. Amazing and exceptional

This was an absolutely beautiful home. The listing was perfectly accurate. The extra touches Rachel added to the house, hand soap in every bathroom and others that made our stay perfect, were much appreciated. The house is fit for all ages and laid out so you always see the beautiful outside. We will definitely keep this on our revisit list!

Perfect for a family trip

This home was perfect for our family vacation. We had three families with people ranging from 2 to 70 and this home provided everything we needed for the entire family. The spaces were comfortable, we were all able to sit down at the dinner table each night, and there were separate spaces to go to for a bit of quiet when needed. Having a playroom with toys, booster seats, kids table settings, cribs, etc. made our trip so much easier and packing less stressful. The access to the large, beautiful pool was a dream and the beach was lovely. And, the owner was so responsive and easy to work with. I would absolutely go back to this house!

Amazingly Clean

The property was amazingly clean and fit our needs well. We chose this house for the location and size of the home. While we did not utilize the bonus room downstairs it would have been perfect when our children were younger. Communication with the owners went above and beyond. Overall appeal was great and would stay again. The only downside was it lists a hot tub as an amenity but the hot tub they refer to is actually the clubhouse hot tub that is not open during the winter or off season months.

Perfection!

The property is quite literally perfect for small and big children alike. We had two, one year olds and everything we could have thought of, was supplied. The mini cribs were fantastic, black out curtains, toys, bibs, childrenā€™s plates/silverware, gates at the stairs- everything was fantastic. Rachel, the host, was so prompt in her responses and went out of her way to be extra helpful. The walk to the beach was short and sweet- not a problem at all. It was so nice to also have a Brita on site and not have to buy water. 12/10 and would recommend to everyone!

Views at sunrise/sunset were worth the price alone. We travel to OBX annually and would rate this rental at the top! Plenty of space for our family of 7. One thing my mommy mind appreciated was the cleanliness and open countertop space/bedroom space because it makes checkout that much easier. Itā€™s easy to lose or forget a toy or souvenir amongst clutter and this home is clean, spacious and inviting. Communication was perfect. Mama was happy so everyone was happy! Perfect place to stay with young ones

Wonderful place to stay with young kids! We had four kids ages 3.5 to 7.5. They loved sleeping in the bunk beds, and were totally absorbed with playing in the first floor play room- loved that they had their own space. Set up perfectly for two families with kids, since us parents were able to each have our own bedroom nearby the kidsā€™ room. We even had grandparents in their 70ā€™s along, and they had the primary room on the top floor near the kitchen and living room. We cooked most nights and the kitchen had everything we needed. Beautiful sunsets across the pond, we loved all the balconies. An interesting and short walk to the sound side beach, fairly short walk to ocean side beaches and the available wagon made it all doable. Even though it was still a bit chilly during our stay, on days when it was too cold to go to the beach we visited lighthouses, the Wright Brothersā€™ museum, a wildlife sanctuary. Also saw plenty of mini golf spots and an adventure park. Spotlessly clean, Rachel checked in on us (messaging) the first day and was so helpful and welcoming, made herself available for questions. When the outside shower wasnā€™t working quite right, she had someone come over and fix it promptly. Truly a gem of a place to stay.

Wonderful Week

We had a wonderful 7 day stay! The house was clean, organized and with all the comforts of home. The owners have thought of everything. Our grandson loved the playroom and the baby gates were awesome- the adults could relax knowing he was safe. We rented bikes and kayaks and cruised the neighborhood and the pond daily. Quick walk to the pool and the beach. The wagon was a lifesaver! A great vacation was had by all. From our 3 yo grandson to my 87 yo mother. Communication with the owners was quick and easy.

A beautiful gem!

We had the most amazing time staying at Once Upon A Tide! The house couldn't have been anymore perfect for our families. The kids fished everyday at the lake. We also were lucky enough to see many baby turtles during our stay. The location was great and the owners were always so quick to respond with any questions we had. We were very lucky to have found this beautiful gem!!!

Perfect beach house!

Rachel and Austin have thought of everything you might need for a great time in OBX. The house is beautifully furnished, there are plenty of item in the kitchen, toys for kids, beach items, tvs in every room, anything you need. They are super responsive and deal with little hiccups immediately. We rotated between the beach and the sound every day - and had a great time!

OBX Beach Vacation

Absolutely wonderful experience! This host truly thought of everything. The house had everything we needed and more. Very conscious of all ages; from the playroom to the kitchen, to the beach equipment, and kitchenā€¦. Every detail was tended to. The location was perfect. Right on the lake and within walking distance to the beach, as well as shipping and restaurants. We will be back!

Amazing!!

Once Upon a Tide was absolutely amazing and just what the doctor ordered. At first, I didnā€™t want to leave a review to keep it all to myself, but I would be remiss to keep this hidden gem a secret. Prior to arrival, Rachel was extremely responsive and helpful. Understanding what the house had in terms of beach items was a huge relief not having to pack a ton of extra stuff. The guide book was very informative and helpful to plan out activities. Arrival was seamless. We got in and were immediately wowed by the cleanliness of house. Most beach houses are a little musty, but Once Upon a Tide was spotless. It was an oasis for families as the title boasts. The playroom had more toys than we had time to explore, beach equipment (e.g., chairs, shovels, wagon, umbrella, etc.) was in excellent/new condition, and bedrooms were well appointed (e.g., clean sheets/towel, upscale toiletries, and TVs/fans). The kitchen was fantastic. Great layout, nice utensils and appliances, and an amazing view of the sound and sunset. Surrounding area was very family friendly. Quick walk to the pool/beach, tons of places to explore in the neighborhood, and walking distance to grocery and seafood. Highly recommend and hope to return one day!

1st Floor: Playroom stocked with a train table, play kitchen + accessories, books, board games, floor & age-appropriate jigsaw puzzles, Nugget play couches, doll house + accessories, and more. There is also a storage closet with beach chairs, an 8-ft umbrella, beach toys, kids life jackets, and a wagon.

2nd Floor: Washer/Dryer. Bunk Room (master bedroom) with 2 full-over-full bunks and an ensuite bathroom (toilet & shower with handheld shower hose), 2 wardrobes and a closet. 2 King bedrooms with a shared full bathroom (toilet, shower/tub combo). King bedrooms both have dressers, closets, TVs and private access to balcony overlooking the lake. A mini crib is also available. The balcony has 6 Adirondack chairs with accent tables & 4 hammock chairs. All bedrooms have blackout window treatments.

3rd Floor: Master bedroom with a full ensuite bathroom (toilet & shower), mini crib, large walk-in closet, and blackout window treatments. A second Washer & Dryer are located in the master closet. Fully stocked kitchen with vaulted ceilings and adjacent dining room overlooking the lake. The dining table has seating for 10 & the bar has seating for 3. There are 2 high chairs & 1 booster seat available. The 3rd floor balcony also overlooks the lake and has a dining table with seating for 10. The cozy living room has a TV, an abundance of seating & board games for the whole family.

Outside: Parking for 5 vehicles, Tesla charging station (level 2 charger), charcoal grill, a digger toy for kids, and an outdoor shower.

The entire home is setup with kids in mind. There are safety features throughout the home, age appropriate toys for children ages infant to ~10 y/o, games for the whole family, TV's with YoutubeTV + Apps, and more. A list of all children's amenities will be available prior to your stay.

Other things to note
Amenities **NOT** included: mini crib sheets (same size as pack-n-play sheets), swaddles/sleep sacks, baby bottles, bottle dishwasher baskets, baby carriers, diapers, strollers, baby laundry detergent, beach towels.

The cleaning fee of $300 includes the following:
-Linens (sheets, towels, wash clothes, hand towels, and kitchen towels); BEACH TOWELS NOT INCLUDED
-Sanitizing the entire house, and cleaning high touch surfaces.
-Basic Cleaning of the house-sweeping floors, cleaning bathrooms, cleaning up sand, mopping/dry mopping floors, cleaning kitchen area, cleaning fridge, vents, vacuuming carpet, and maintaining general order of the house.

We do ask that guests clean up after themselves, and read/abide by all check out instructions.

A pet fee of $100 per pet is required. Only 2 dogs allowed. Dogs must be crated if left alone.

During the summer there is a minimum stay of a week required. Check-in is at 5PM & check-out is 10AM.

A $250 security deposit is required and will be returned within 10 days of your check-out date, pending there are no damages to the home.
