Zihuatanejo Casa Rosario

We, Chris and Deb, live in Vancouver, B.C. where we’ve raised two children – now young adults – and several cats and dogs while working for over 30 years as educators / administrators / university instructors. Since retiring six years ago, wonderful new doors have been opened for us, not the least of which has been our discovery of Mexico and Zihuatanejo.

It was a bleak, wet January in 2013 when we decided to run away to somewhere warm and sunny. We’d never been to Mexico, though had wanted to, and close friends / travelling partners had just returned from Zihua with the most alluring pictures and stories, so, we chose this as our run-away destination. Booking 3 weeks late in the season meant we had to book 3 week-long stays, each of which offered its own perspective on the bay and its neighbourhoods; the south slope of La Ropa beach, the middle of Madera beach, then the north end of La Ropa. It was during our time in Bahia Suites on Madera beach that we became truly smitten with this unique place, its owners and tenants, its welcoming Mexican neighbourhood and its beautiful location. Though never intending to own property outside of Canada, after some months of research and conversations with other owners of Mexican properties, we returned to Bahia Suites and lived for the month of November in the condo we subsequently purchased in January 2014.

A spectacular location with easy access to everything of interest or need, comfort, charm, a welcoming, easy-going community, relaxed and friendly fellow travellers, and wonderful food.
